Very Pretty!.. Did you use a heat resistant paint? How much did the paint and labor set you back?

I used about 4 coats of primer, 5 coats of heat resistant paint, and 2 coats of sealer. I did it myself, so the labor was free ;) VERY easy to do, just takes some patience. The good news is, you can drive your car around without those plastics on it, so you don't have any down time with your car. You could get it done in a day easily if you had a whole day to work on it (needs some drying time in between).

The whole project cost me about $10.

I heard that it's not good to do that because the plastic thingies are there for a reason or something... can anyone clarify?

you should paint your ecu cover too, you can drive around without that on also :)

The way I see it is, most other cars don't even have those pieces, and they can drive around without em, so so can we, at least for a little while ;)

Lookin good. Mine will be white whenever I get around to painting them. I'm just kinda iffy about the primer I bought.. Since it's high temp primer and not plastic primer, specifically..

I was kinda curious about that.....it said "DO NOT REMOVE" on the front of that, and I didn't want to screw anything up so I didn't mess with it, but is it okay to take that off?

yea its ok to take it off, i wouldnt drive for a long time without off (i.e. several days, weeks etc), but i drove without mine for 3 days and it didnt hurt it.. its mainly to keep dust out of the ecu

No - its main purpose is to keep moisture out. Water and electronics dont mix. ;) O Fcourse dust/dirt has negative residual effects, too. I wouldnt drive around for even 1 day with my ECU cover off.

u can keep ur engine covers/ other plastic covers off.. its mainly for show to show a neat engine

yeah american cars dont have that stuff.. but u can see the rust/carbon buildup and dust all over the engine.. the plastics over everything give the engine a nice clean look

soon im gonna be posting pics of my neon install and wiring.. ill have about 3-4 fuse blocks

Don't worry about the lettering. I didn't think about the pen until after I grabbed a touchup paint bottle and used the brush out of that and it turned out rather nice. See what you think...

I've tried painting my head cover like 3 times and every time it bubbled. Good luck w/ it. The head generates way too much heat for paint on a plastic cover.

If you use primer and engine paint you should be fine with no bubbling.
