Looking at the trunk setups, I see most of you have a type of faux bottom install, where the sub occupys the spare tire well (or just dont have a spare anymore for whatever reason). This is how I want to do my sub install, but I just wonder about the what if I got a flat. What do you guys do if you get flats?

Simple: dont get a flat. Haha, but seriously, just pick up something like CAA (I guess itd be AAA in the states), or one of those cans of puncture sealant.

can of fix a flat. im have 18"s on my car w 225/40/18 it is 4% larger than stock overall diameter so spare is kind of off. i took mine out for weight savings and carry fix a flat in the car. spare is useless to me with 18"s. i could be wrong but i will say the above figure of 4% is accurate, i used a wheel and tire calculater and the proper size tire to match oem diameter is 215/35 18

:wtf: What's the problem? A stock-sized spare would still get you out of trouble, even if you have 18s...
Obviously, it won't look very aesthetic, but it would work. The suspension will just push down a little more on the spare's side but it'll get you to the closest tire store...

Unless I travel far out of the city then I will put my spare back in. If not I just use CAA which is good for like 200 Km's ...

There has been too many deaths of people getting killed while changing their spare tire on the road by other cars hitting into them. I would always just use my CAA even if I had a spare.

Same here, ADAC in Europe, AAA in US, fix-a-flat in a pinch. Oh, and keep tires fresh (I have summer/winter sets).

with fix-a-flat..you still need to blow the tires back up dont you. I've never used it on automotive tires.

I looked at AAA, and the services they offered was to change your tire for you (no use without the spare), or to tow you for up to 10 miles...which may be enough but 10 miles isnt much and might not get me anywhere. How much is AAA per month?

Keep the spare man, I got a flat the ONE time I took my spare out and left it at home. How freakin ironic.

I have AAA and called them, it was going to be able 40 minutes to get there, and they don't carry spares, they just tow your car to a tire shop of your choice. Then you get to figure out how to get back to your car in the morning.

I went with the "call my brother to bring me my spare" option, it worked out great, my car was safe at home that night, and I had a car in the mornin'.

Damn I sound old saying this don't I?

i agree with you little hindsight on my part. i did keep my spare i guess ill put it back for road trips and such... can honestly say ive only had one blow out in 11years driving and it was on my lowrider ranger and let me tell you that sucked there was 6 inches+ snow on the road

I was going to build my sub enclosure using my wheel well, but decided against it after much thought as to what to do with the spare. it's not worth the risk of blowing out a tire at 2 in the morning somewhere and being stuck.
