So I bought this from someone

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-zZk1Hmh6mIW/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?I=133C7303&search=CQC7303U

he gave me the deck and wiring harness. When he was removing it, he cut off the skinny yellow, green, red, black, and gray wires in the back (I'm noob) so is that fine? He said that it was fine and that all I need is harnesses for them. I didn't really understand

And also, once I hook it up in my car, will it have radio? I was looking at the front of the deck and it seems there are no buttons/controls for a radio .. just for CD/MP3s. Would I have to buy something to make it get radio or will it automatically have radio? And the site said there is an AUX for an iPod hookup but I don't see any AUX holes on the front of the deck .. so any help would be appreciated.

according to the "details" section of crutchfield link....it says...

"18 FM/6 AM presets"

there should be a radio on there. lol

someone correct me if im wrong, but i think you use the "src" button to change modes like to radio, cd, etc.
and u use the "next" and "previous" buttons for the cd to change stations

some aux inputs are in the back....or else its hidden in the front by a cover or something....keep looking

Yeh just go get a toyota wiring harness for it.. youll be fine..

oh I see .. haha thanks guys

for the wiring harness, I looked up on Ebay and there's different ones like an Alpine wiring harness, JVC wiring harness, etc. Would it be okay to just get one of those or does it have to be a Toyota one?

and I called the guy and he said the AUX is in the back and you hook up the ipod hookup there .. the question is how could I work my iPod from the back when it's going to be blocked by the deck? uhhh

he meant a wiring harness specific for the toyota celica.
this was in the AUDIO FAQ sticky....

3. Where can I buy a Scosche TA03 Harness?
Check here: http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/SCOTA03B

Is it necessary to get a Toyota harness though? The Alpine and JVC ones look the same and it looks like it will fit into my headunit .. seems like it'll be cheaper also.

yes you need a toyota one. cuz then the plugs will fit for sure. The others wont..

and the ipod is controlled through the deck.

so the one's i found on ebay won't work?

EDIT: found the one for the celica on the site you gave me, but what's with the blue box? All I need is the wires .. I don't really want to pay extra for something I dont necessarily need.

..damnit.

i dont see why the ones on ebay won't work (even though im a noob)

The only part I need is the bundle of skinny wires that hooks up to the back of my deck (assuming its the wire harness). The wires that weren't cut off have tags on them saying "PRE-OUT FRONT" "PRE-OUT REAR" "AUX1-IN" and "S. W-OUT"

The rest of the wires (the bundle of skinny ones) was cut out. The guy that showed me the deck played it on his car and everything seemed to be fine .. he didn't have something that bypasses factory amps or whatever ..

get me a picture of the rear of the deck.
and what kind of celica do you have?
what kind of car did he have?

if the guy didn't give you the harness that plugs into the back of the cd player, then you need to call him up and make him give it to you.

Here is the basic breakdown of the after market HU

1. ALL decks come with a basic harness that plugs into the back of the cd player, and has color coded wires for you to install into you car.

2. You need to buy a separate adapter from circuit city of best buy specifically for your car, they are like 15 - 20 bucks. This adapter plugs into your car's wiring harness.

3. Before installing, you need to splice the cd players wires with the car adapter you bought in step # 2.

4. If you look at the back of your cd player, you will see a hole with a circle in either the left lower corner or the right lower corner of the back of the head unit. THIS is where you will plug in the antenna. You will see the antenna plug in when you remove your stock cd player, as it will be plugged into your stock head unit.

5. You don't need to order anything online just follow these basic instructions.

Easy as cake, if you have done it before.

EDIT: AHH, now I understand.

You just need the wiring harnesses. Not terribly hard to get. Do you happen to know if you have the premium audio system in your Celica?

Either way, you still need to get a new harness that comes from the head unit. So you have two harnesses to buy.

I have a GT so it's the non-premium sound I believe. And I need 2 harnesses?

Would you think if I just showed it to someone at Best Buy or Circuit City and told them the situation, they would give me the 2 harnesses to buy?

To make it easier on yourself, you could use SmartCables by Metra, something both BB and Circuit City should carry. I know we (I work at Circuit City) carry these.

You'll need Metra harnesses 80-1761 and PA01-80. Write those down. I know for sure that Circuit City carries both of these.

The part numbers in store (at CC) would be MET 801761 and MET PA0180..

This setup is hella easy. The harness have adapters on the ends so all the wiring work is done for you. You plug in the Panasonic adapter into your head unit, the Toyota harness into the Panasonic harness, and then the other end of the Toyota into your car. Straight up plug and play, no wiring necessary.

So I just got back from Best Buy and I showed the guy my headunit and he showed me the wires to get. They were some Toyota wires in a plastic bag so I just payed $20 for that. I finally have everything I need .. so hopefully the hookup goes well hahaha

thanks for everything guys
