Tire pressure

Wondering what everyone keeps there tire pressure at. Im about to make a road trip, just going over my check this. I have 17's.

i believe max tire pressure is listed on the side of the actual tire, search 'round. i have 18s and i think mine are at 40psi...

i have 51 Max PSI i live in texas i told you that for climate comparison. i run 7 Psi under max on all sets of tires for daily driving under different conditions you will under or over inflate your tires. if your running 45 PSI max id run 39 PSI.

Max PSI is just for reference, it has nothing to do with the actual recommended PSI. I usually keep mine at 35. The recommended PSI for your car should be written on the door jamb or back side of the gas door.

35 all around. the OEM pressure is the same all around, so i keep it that way. I inflate my tires according to how they are wearing. Up until i had it to 35 PSI, the outsides of the tire were wearing faster than the inside, thus showing low tire pressure.

make sure you set your tire pressure when they are cold! Adjust about 4psi higher if they are warm when inflating.

Wait you mean you don't fill it to the max pressure printed on the tire? Ugh that makes sense but I didn't know that.

I know my tires say max 42 I think I might have them at that... I've got the stock 16".. I didn't know where else to look for inflation.

Max PSI is the highest load the tire can safely take without damaging itself over time. If you fill them cold to that pressure, when you drive they heat up and exceed that pressure the whole time! Plus it would ride like you had four hockey pucks mounted instead of tires...

Yes, yes it does. So the correct PSI is on the inside of the door?

**** I just inflasted my tires to 47psi. Max says 51psi but I didn't want to do it that high. There were around 29-30psi and I didn't think that was high enough. My tires I think are 215/35/17...I know 35/17 for sure. It rides a little bit nicer, bumps hit harder but I can turn alot easier. Think I should change the psi?

47 is high and you're prolly gonna wear out the center of your tread faster.

Usually would be set at 30psi on a cold tire. When the tires heat up, air pressure goes up.

is you have a really low profile rubber, add a couple, else 35 to 38 is fine.

Thanks for the answers, i'll let some air out and get them back down to 35psi area.
