IM BUYING 10 OF EM ... 10 ... I SAID TEN (saying it like the fat guy in varsity blues movie) 10 !! LOL
I am gonna buy a couple though and send and give it to family and "friends" like my friend with a type R ... hehehe :naughty:

THEY DID GET A 15.4 with the stock 02!! celica , not so damn bad , and with minor mods and fine , nice , affadable , PERFECT lol suspension , our cars according to SCC are the best thing since sliced bread! I really think SCC loves our cars .. the turning and sound of em .. SHEET they enjoy them just about bare stock , and dont piss and moan about this need boost , and we need a SC.
If they did have that , i dont think there would be any records broke.
If that hotchkins celica had headers , and maybe a 50 shot of nitrous , AND I HONESTLY BELIVE THIS ..... i dont think we would EVER see a car beet the celica at the salom! .. Maybe close , but not beat.
Give me your input if you truely belive this.
This is TRUE proof that our cars are meant for N/A .. and will still woop ass while getting respect and jaw dropping import woop ass record breaking times!

you don't spray nitrous during a slalom, dude, but it would've made for a helluva quarter mile to go with the other stats :)

Agreed. No one uses nitrous on a road course. However, a good low boost turbo or s/c might improve those lap times. Notice what they compared the Hotchkis Celica to: a turbocharged EVO VII.

not even a 35 shot ... i thought you could do a little shot? I must have been missinformed somewhere.
sorry man

With some extra hp from a power adder like cams, headers, ported cylinder head, or even a low boost turbo or s/c, I'd bet that those times would be even MORE impressive. Notice how SCC commented that the times pulled were absolutely extraordinary, especially considering they were Celicas with "stock power." Like I've said before, we need engine/power mods to match the handling and braking potential of the Celica. The fact that we can't get 50 +hp from the 2zz without spending over 6k is still our biggest weakness. And that needs to change.

Oh, here's a thread you guys might find kinda funny. Enjoy;) : http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=26844

Anyone know details of what kind of slalom they run cars thru? It's bizarre that they would say that power is a significant contributor to performance there.

I thought the exact same thing as NoCones. Power helping a slalom?

Also, lets not forget the benefit of sticky race tires for handling and braking.

Finally, lets not forget the benefit of a limited slip differential for lap times (the LSD might also help in the slalom).

Good points, autxr and No Cones. I also thought that slalom times had little to do with horsepower. And its good to keep in mind that the Hotckis Celi has the extra advantage of that LSD along with all the suspension mods. In any case, do you guys think some extra hp would significantly improve those lap times on the road course?

Did any one notice the 02 Celebrity Celica doesn't suffer from the early fuel cut-off......?
That tells me if it is really an 02 Celica, there must be an 02 ECU without the early fuel cut-off! Therefore, we can keep the stock knock sensor and just replace the ECU.
Would anyone know who to contact for more info on the Celebrity Celica?

Given the LSD to help put it down, extra power sure wouldn't hurt. (although I was surprised to see a clutch-type LSD utilized instead of helical).

nothing wrong with having an LSD....the EVO has friggin' AWD :)

i think the editors just messed up for that power/slalom comment...they run a standard 600ft slalom (or they did in some other issues). and obviously, their tests themselves show power doesn't matter, with a 180hp celica setting the record.

Clutch Limited-Slip Differentials are better for racing. They can withstand more abuse and they can have [and do] have better torque bias ratios. Helicals are limited to about 20% torque shifting capability [thus the word "bias"]. I vaguely recall reading that clutch types can vary from 20% to about 60% depending on application needs.

but the obvious disadvantage!!!!! tearing apart your tranny every 50,000 right hand turns you make cause you wore out the clutch...lol

Hey guys.... Was that the SH*T or what...... Like I've said all along.... Hotchkis baby....!!!!..... And on a side note, the tires we used were Yokohama AO48's......
