Im thinking those sizes are too small. I ran a 215 on wheels that were 7 in wide. Hopefully someone else will jump in and help out cuz im no pro on wheel and tire stuff.

i have 235/45/17 on my 17x8 works so i would think 245/40/18 on 18x9 would be perfect

If I remember correctly, 225 series fit 7-8.5" rim widths.

It will depend on the manufacturer of the tire generally speaking as most have a tolerance of a few inches give or take. It will also depend on the sidewall of the tire. If you want to get a little better idea of what tire will fit on what though first you can convert that first number from milimeters to inches.

So for example: 225 is: 8.85826772 inches

And 245 is: 9.64566929 inches

For all practical purposes 225 is ideal on a 9 inch wheel and 245 should be ok on a 10 inch wide wheel as well. Those widths are pretty much close to the ideal widths you should be putting those tires on. The reason I mentioned the sidewall (AKA Aspect Ratio) of the tires is because if there is more sidewall then you can stretch a tire a little more than a tire with a very low aspect ratio. There is less tire to stretch. It can be done but it's not ideal for your situation.

If you want another way to verify the allowable tolerances of the tires some manufacturers actually specify the allowable rim widths that a tire can be fitted to.

From Toyo's Tire Recommender:
Tire size Rim Size
225/35ZR18 87Y RD 7.5-8.0-9.0
225/50R15 91V 6.0-7.0-8.0

Again as you can see the smaller 15" tire has a wider tolerance of about 2 inches. The 18" tire only has a tolerance of about 1.5 inches. I'm sure that these numbers are conservative as well as I'm sure that the 15 inch tire could probably fit on a 9 inch wheel. IF there was such a thing as a 15x9 inch wheel for our Celica's.

Thanks toxy,

that was very informative. completly forgot about the sidawall issue.
Notice the 15 has a 50 for the sidawall, mines are 40 so perhap streching isn't too far fetch. I seen many 350 do the same using there stock over after market to save a few, not sure if I like the look my self.

well I guess I could just use the rears in the front and buy new rears. ehh
