as i got up today, i my sisterz ex-boyfriend told me that one of his friends who i met a couple of times, got into a crash 6/10 morning(about 2-3am).......his friend was driving a 2000 eclipse....... after a night out......my sis ex-boyfriend who was driving a 330ci and him where heading home when another eclipse decided to take crack at them on the parkway doing about 90+mph.......the guy in the gt......went after the guy who wiz'd past them......then my sis ex-b'friend thought that his friend just downshifted to pass him....when he realized the guy in the gt was tring to race that other eclipse......330ci was about 5-10 car lenths behind the 2 eclipse......as the 2 eclipse enter'd a loooong ramp doing 100-120+, the guy in the gt lost controll and flipped his car many times and hit a post.......my sis b'friend was about 10 car lenghts behind them, watching his friend get smashed every possible way(not to sound mean).........when he got out of the car to check out the baaaaaaaaaaaadly wreck'd eclipse, he did not find a body.......later that night when the cops talk'd to him, the cops told him that his friends body was twisted in the car........when i saw & spoked to the guy in the 330ci.....he was speachless and was scared to drive his car since yesterday mornning

i think this WILL be an eye opening experience (which no one should go through) for my friend in the 330ci, who drives like an asssss........i'm not the one that should be saying " obay the speed limit" but i do all my speeding by myself on a ppl free...open roads.......i guess we live and we learn......

o yeah 1 more thing the guy was only 20.......

just outta curiosity what about the other Eclipse? did he stop or run or what?

TRD StreetRacing

i'm guessing the other eclipse left the spot cuz my friend didn't mention NEthing about the other car.......he said that at first he didn't even see the car cuz it was dark as hellll and the car was black.......plus all the smoke every where made it even more harder for him to see inside the car.......in a way it's lucky that he didn't find the other guy in the car cuz that would have been mind blowing to find some1 twisted up like that....he would have gone into shock or something

all it takes is 1 person...and that person can really come out of nowhere when you're doing 100.

This thread reminds me of one of the WORST things I've ever seen. I had just finished dinner and I was outside in the parking lot talkin' when we heard an explosion! I turned around and a civic had jumped the median and crashed into a pickup going the other way. An integra raced by, and that's when I realized it was a drag racing accident. The area that it happened was a wide long stretch notorious for drag racing. We ran to the scene and saw the pickup driver hanging out of the window. To make a long story short, the pickup driver was covered up, and they choppered the civic driver out after they had to use the jaws of life. I saw the driver of the pickup die on that street, and he had absolutely nothing to do with it. The Integra didn't even slow down as it raced by! Really sobering thought and that's why stupidly excessive street racing is just that... Stupid! Keep it on the track!

Racing at 2am - 3am? I dunno about you, but around 1am I can hardly keep my eyes open.

If you're out on the street that late you're either coming back from a party (drugs and/or drinking) and/OR you're tired so you are not 100% there so you can't be the best driver you can be.

what i mean is....there is a road by the beach by where i live where there is only 2 lanes and bushes along side of the road......that's the only place i have hit 110-120+.....cuz i know it's safe for me do that.....one day a deer or something else might jump infront of the car and i might get into a bad crash.....but that's the risk i take......i don't put any1 else in harmz way.....the guy in the 330ci....drives like that on a normal day going to work on the parkway........he dips in trafic doing creazy speeds....i'm not too sure if u might agree w/ me....but my point is that i do that on a safer road than those guys which do it 24/7

some freinds of mine on this board who will remain nameless often race illegally at speeds in access of 100 Mph, and at night. if either of those crazy bastards ever got hurt i would probably stop racing all together street/track.

Its really sad to think this stuff happens. i am just thankful none of my freinds have died racing. knock on wood

Sorry about your friend... This is the major problem with the import scene. if we as import driver's are every going to make and keep a good image for our selve's we need to stop street racing I know in phx almost every night of the week there is a drag strip open but people still choose to race on the street. This is not an icolated incident and for some reason some people will never learn. This incident seems to have happened on driver error because the other eclipse drove away so trd streetracing let me ask you a question what makes it ok to drive like you say you do on desalite road's have you ever considered somone could have been broken down on the side of the road maybe changeing a tire and you come blazing by at 110 or 120 not seeing him early enough and now you have taken away someone's father or brother , son or daughter do you want to be the one to live with that. Say the situation changes you see them with just enough time to react, but to stay in an attempt to stay on the road you end up over correcting your car and end up killing your self do you want your friends and family to go threw that?? Just something to think about.

IMO we all need to make every attempt to end street racing and better the scene for ourselve's and those to come. Keep the roads safe we all use them I know I want to make it home every time I get in the car

yeah, i heard about that in the paper just yesterday. really sucks. the kid was of my age, my background, and lives right nearby.

and i don't know anything about the alcohol thing, but there were no other people caught in the accident, because it was pretty late.

but i think the main thing is, 120+ maintained speed on the northern state parkway near those exits is not smart. i've driven there all the time, the road is uneven in the curves, and there are some potholes. there are a few really straight stretches, but they should have slowed down a lot for the turns. you can't do 120+ on any part of this highway except the easternmost end, and even then, not in the curves. to give you an idea, i would never do even 85-90 on those curves (well you could, but that's the point where i feel you don't really know how well you're controlling the car anymore).

i myself never race at high speeds on highways like that anymore (if they really wanted to do **** like this, should've taken it to the I495...aren't many curves there, bigger and more open, more forgiving). i sometimes do play around only on perfectly straight, isolated sections of highway service road, where there are no people, no sidestreets, no cops, and very nice roads going only one way, and you can see everything way ahead of you easily, and i don't hold the high speeds for more than a few seconds. i usually only do that when modding my car and making videos or doing G-Tech runs for before/after stuff. i rarely actually race anymore. not worth it. take it to the track. (speaking of track, our track costs $45 to run, wtf)

my condolences to the poor kid's family. sad to see a young life ended so early regardless of why or how.

If you are talking about the road in Jones Beach.... Its safe and straight as hell. This is where all my friends make their highspeed runs - like 170mph on a bike.

Basically this road is 20 miles long, straight as a ruler, flat as salt beds, and NO cars after night. Imagine going to a drag strip that's 20 miles long.

Hmm...

I'll be honest, I get on it on the highway..but I rarely go above 90. And only when there aren't any cars around.

During regular travel back and forth, such as to Las Vegas..I WILL sometimes hit 120...but that's only when I'm by myself on one of those desert roads....they're fun..heheh.

BUT as far as going 120 on a ramp...you've gotta be friggin' nuts...that's just plain stupidity.

I'm sorry to be so blunt...but that's just natural selection for you.

My condolences go the family and friends of this guy. As for the guy that died, I don't feel sorry at all.

that's the exact same road i'm talking about, that end at the harbor or something like that......that road is maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad long and straight........as for the question by juicedcelica........i'm not going to lie and say that i have no gone well over a 100+mph.......but the fact of the matter is i don't do it like those guys did on a busy parkway 24/7.....i did it and do it on a empty road/parkway.........nyoneway knows what i'm talking about......there is no way u can hide on the road.....u can see some1 miles away(no joke)....the only thing that come across is an animal.......and that's the risk i take.....my momz has more of a risk getting hit by a driver and getting kill'd(god forbid) coming from work from NYC, than i do on that street

Why don't one of the mods move this to the Racing Forum. I think it will create a nice contrast to the idiotic stories in there.

It shouldnt take one of your friends to get hurt to realize that you should stop street racing. even though u dont know this guy, stories like this should open everybody's eyes. u dont want it to hit home cause it sucks...my sister's fiance died last year from street racing...it not only shortens your life, but hurts everybody around u...keep it on the tracks.....

Earlier this year my cousins husband(newly-weds). was killed in a accident caused by his own stupidy(sorry to be so blunt) while testdriving an RSX that the dealer let him take off the lot for the day. He was driving in day time traffic at almost twice the speed limits swiring in and out of traffic and lost control The only thing I can see positive is that he didn't hit anyone else and put another family through what my cousin and his family through.

This is all very sad and very sobering, but let me ask this quick question: Does anyone think about this when the Riced-out Civic wheezes his exhaust at you at the stoplight or when he/her pulls it into neutral on the highway and whines at you? I know we should, hell I know we all should do alot of things we never will....

I sure as hell do! Why do I care if someone revs their engine? If the Civic is riced out, the person obviously wants attention. I'm not going to give them what they want. I love my life, my wife, and my car too much to risk them on something stupid like that. What is wrong with you? You stupid or something? Lose the ego. There's more important things in life.

sorry to hear about your loss.

As for the people out on the road at 2 or 3 am. Not all of us are drunk, tired or high. I work at night from 6pm to 6am. So 2 or 3 a.m. is like 2 p.m. for me. I am wide awake and fully concentrating on the road.
