From what I think I know on the topic strut bars make your car body roll and torque less while cornering. Also, installing them will make your ride a little less smooth and more stiff on the bumps. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So why is there a huge price difference in big name strut bars and the cheap things you see on ebay. With car stuff cheaper usually means less quality materials. In this case I don't see that being such a problem. Assuming they fit correctly and don't damage my car, I don't mind if my strut bars are slightly less than stiff as a rock. Can anybody give me a good reason not to buy the ebay stuff or any particular ones which have been a problem in the past.

So far I've noticed this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Front-Up-Strut-Bar-Toyota-Celica-00-01-02-03-04-05-2005_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33591QQihZ014QQite mZ330216334792QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW) and this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-05-01-02-03-04-Celica-GT-GT-S-Front-Upper-Strut-Bar_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33591QQihZ012QQitem Z220207837501QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW).

Even used ones on this site can go for $100+. I'm wondering why. Thanks.

less quality materials.

Like spaghetti.
Front struts are useless in our car.

so you recommend rear struts?

^^.. Yes. 3pt brace. TRD or C-one.
One piece bar that goes across in the back will also bend, and it doesn't really do anything.

Interesting I was just reading this good article (http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Performance/swaystrutbars.htm) on strut and sway bars. So if I want to waste my money on cheap front strut bars for purely aesthetic reasons, that would be my prerogative.

^^ Indeed.

Its best to invest on front and Rear sway bars and 3pt brace if you want to improve handling. The rest are just for bling factors. Its your car get it if you like how it looks, but it will actually increase under steer (Front tower).

Yeah, I find that hard to wrap my brain around, how more stiffness would make you understeer. Most articles on it are a little overcomplicated. Does the Celica GT stock have a tendency to over or understeer. In my experience of driving my car, it tends to steer, nicely :p:

Nice photos btw, check out my iStockPhoto (http://www.istockphoto.com/myhrcat) page.

GT and GT-S have the same set-up in suspension. FYI.

Stock set-up tends Understeer. To counter this, I got Suspension Technique rear sways.

Nice pictures btw!... Nice idea on that stiching photo. Found another technique ;) .
