Okay, folks, I've solved our perplexing problem regarding the disassembly of the headlight casing so you can get the inside painted to match your car - or tint the inside of the lights to make them "legal"

Thanks for the info but heres another question: what do you use to tint the inside? Like if I wanted it to make it look like there is black housing, what do I exactly need to do?

use Tester's Brand "SMOKE"/"WINDOW TINT" Spray Paint...
Found at most hobby shops for around $4

ALL OF THE SPRAY COLOURS.....
http://www.testors.com/Products.asp?act_id=4&exp_id=0&cat_id=77&name=&page=3&page_count=3&First.x=48&First.y=4

....

if you want to paint some area and not the other, just use masking tape over that area, then CAREFULLY use a razor blade to cut a circle outline and peel off the edges (leaving the maskingtape circle over the area where you do NOT want paint to be sprayd)

the dificuly on this painting task is probably an 8 (out of 10... 10 being the hardest).... but if you take your time and think about what you need to do next - that comes dropped down to a 4.

I never saw that page....
actualy, I first posted this topic on EC.com at 05-31-2002 06:52 PM

... I like nccelica's write-up with photos better though :)
(more detailed then mine... my write-up is kinda like a quick run-down/receipe rather then a detailed walk-through)

VERY NICE!

OH! And my writeup was to TINT the headlight reflecters rather then to just cover them completely - but it prolly doesnt make a difference either way because......

Like buying rims - everyone has their own likes and dislikes.... some will tint, and some will put a solid layer on :)
(i like the tint, that way it will still be reflective)

im not sure if you would still have reflective quality if you put paint over top of them... i would try it on a test light before doing it on your own vehicle
