I'm just trying to remove the stock antenna so I can put my S2000 one, the stock one won't come out!! Its the non electrical one. Does it have like a lock or something inside? I'm trying to rotate counter-clock wise but it won't move a bi...h!

i dont think the base is completely circular, try a wrench or pliers to get it started, sometimes when it's a little bent from wind, etc. its harder to unscrew, should just screw right out

Hehe i had the same problem. Basically get a plier then at the bottem of the antenna NOT THE RUBBER PART- The base of the antenna where it is a little flat. You have to turn it couter clock wise with alot of strength <--- for some people. Let me know how it turns out Good luck.

Umm, you're not trying to remove it from inside the trunk are you? What bolt do you mean? At the bottom of the antenna it's squarish on the sides. Get a crescent wrench, it's the adjustable wrench and remove it with that. I would also suggest putting some lock-tite on the threads of the S2K antenna so someone can't steal it. I put some on mine.

I used Pliers. Try to get as close to the bottom of the antenna as you can.

vitch won't come out!! I'm doing that. Doing it counter clock wise from the bottom part (metal not the rubber). And nothing. Now that I remember, the car did not have an antenna when I got it. Made the dealer put one. Now I regret it!! Hopefully the *******s did not use some tread lock liquid or something. Gonna try more... I'll be back.

dude...just grab a camera, take some shot of ur "dealer install antenna" so we can see what's the problem..
the stock lightling rod should not be that tough to take off..mine just come out using my finger..didn't have to use plier or anything..

I think you can say bitch on here.

edit: yep, you can...so just say it.

I screwed mine off with my fingers. Do not use pliers, whoever suggested that probably has a ton of striped nuts and bolts on his car.

Well "bitch" hahaa, did not come out. The fvcker just snapped out and broke inside. Damn, now what I'm gonna do? Use some WD-40 and reverse drill to take it out? The thing is, if the damn antenna would not come out, reverse drilling the left over will?

You need an entire new antenna assembly now. Hope you can find one at a junk yard. Check ebay for the assembly.

just pretend to give a counter clockwise hand job. it'll work.

Fvck, I'm mad. Gonna try reverse drilling it. It was coming out, already made 2 full spins and.... wack! it snapped.

Use a pliers, hold it tight and go move it counter clockwise. This should loosen the antenna and you can unscrew it with your hands and hand tighten your s2 antenna

It started to move, unfortunately it broke. Now I'm stuck with half antenna inside.

Yeap, it's time to JB Weld the antenna onto antenna mast. I did the exact same thing without watching the angle at which I was unscrewing with the grip and accidently snapped it off, leaving half the thread stuck inside. Drilling failed so I glued the thing on.

I've had the antenna on for roughly 2 years now and still fits nice and tight. I don't use the radio so whatever.

Either the previous owner or dealer used some of those thread lock liquids. I tried to reverse drill it and won't come off. I'm gonna try to drill and destroy that bitch off and then remake treads for the new antenna. If that doesn't work, what glue did you use to attach yours? Did you have to cut the metal thing under the new antenna to make it fit?

dude! i did the same exact thing when i first got my celica. it was tread lock. all you need was a heat gun to melt the glue. i ended buying a mast brand new. easy to connect. its about 60 bucks

The glue is 'JB Weld'. Pick it up at walmart for $5. It makes a absurdly strong bond once it dry. Super glue won't cut it.

The thread on my s2000 antenna wasn't very long. I think I drilled out the stuck thread just big enough to have it fit.

See how your antenna fits to the base and apply the glue there. You can see a bit of glue globbing in these pictures, but the JB Weld works wonders.

That looks horrible since it's not sitting flush against the base of the antenna mount.
