So I got the parts to do the rear disc conversion but.......

Can I spray them like crazy with brake cleaner to get the grimyness off of them?

One of the dust shields is bent, and an ebrake line is cut off about six inches from the baking plate, plus the goodridge lines the guy "threw in" are frayed, I think I got screwed out of 300 bucks but I'm going to try and make the best of it.

Can you just buy ebrake cables? Do I get GTS ebrake cables because the discs are from a GTS or can I use the ones already on my GT? It looks like they are welded to the backing plates???

The calipers are also in rough shape, the rubber has pretty much rotted off, so I'm gonna get rebuilt front and rear calipers, paint them and swap them all at once. I can get a core discount for my used ones so I'm not too worried about price of replacing them. I have new rotors and pads also so not a biggie there either.

Thanks for any tips and help you can offer!

ebrake is not welded into the backing plate. take the rotors off and it should be pretty self explanatory how to swap the ebrake cables.

get GTS parking brake cables.

since it sounds like you need brake hose too then maybe it is a good time to swap to Stainless steel lines

Seems like I have the problem of using the GT brake cable, now my handle is really loose. I have the GT-S one. I guess i'll have to go back and change it out. What really pisses me off, is that Junk yards will cut off (not take off) the calipers and sells them to metal recyclers instead of selling them.

You need to buy new ebrake lines anyhow from Toyota. (GTS ones and new brake lines) They are not welded on to the backing plates.

Oh and to the guy with the loose ebrake handle, I think there's an udjusting sleeve on the front portion of the ebrake cable. I was looking for the ebrake cables online and only came up with a Front cable. 15 1/2" long with a threaded sleeve on it. Try that before you get new cables and let us know! :gap:
