I'm having problems trying to get an upgrade on my brakes for my 2000 GT Celica, for what I understand my car was one of the very first ones that came out and later that year they changed the brakes so i really don't know wich type my car uses i changed the wheels on my celica and have 18" Konig Hotswaps and it will look so much better with a bigger brake kit. I will appreciate any help.

Caliper move-out big brake disc kits are not recommended for anything but show cars. They provide you with few performance advantages and many safety disadvantages. The celica has a terrific stock braking system, it really does not need to be upgraded in any way.

2000 GTs have the same brakes as the rest of the GTs, I used to have one.

If you're interested in upgrading your calipers it'll cost and with a stock car with drums on the rear you're going to massively throw your brake bias to the front which isn't goos.

yea new pads and either resurface or new rotor and your good if the car is stock. bigger brakes though look better are really not needed. Also consider the cost of most bbks. wilwood IMO is the best bang for the buck. its not too large but is enough to stop better and look decent all the while not costing much over a grand. ssbc are cheap as well but look... eh ok. powerslot (same as aem bbk) are not much cheaper then wilwood and are only rotors and caliper move-out brackets for stock calipers

After 2000 the GT fronts were the same as the GT-S.

That is correct today I looked at my friends 2001 GT and his Brakes are completly different from mine. It sucks becuase I never get the rigth rotors when I ask on the store and I just got rims on it and they look really small

I called the Toyota Parts Recycler and he looked up the calipers in his computer and told me that 00-02 is the same and 03-up's are different.. It seems that everyone says something different? I bought them anyways, when i put them on i guess i will see first hand what the difference is...

Negative.

He could always upgrade to the larger rotors/calipers as a later year GT or any GTS.

I'm sure someone has already upgraded the fronts with a BBK and has a complete assembly to sell..

Ok here's the deal what I'm saying is that my celica was sold on 1999 as the 2000GT model so it is one of the very first ones that came out wich used the same brakes as the prior generation celicas, this barkes are smaller than any other celicas. My frustration is that they are smaller and they look different when I park my car next to any other Celica GT

So much mis-information floating around in this thread.

I cannot vouch for wether the 1999/2000 GT Celica's have diffrent brakes or not. But, the GT Celica's never have the same brakes as the GT-S, the GT-S is 4 wheel disc.

Finally find out that the 2000 GT uses the same brakes as the 1999 Celica ST

i have a 00 gt also, i got a set of cross drilled rotors a while back and used stock pads with them. i believe, i recall reading that the mr-s had the same brakes as the 00 gt, but not 100% sure so check it out.
