Red or black top? That motor wasnt only for the celica, they run them in the altezzas also. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one.

i do too... i wonder exactly which platform it's build off of... AWD?

almost makes me want to buy a used tc and do this myself... i mean, a Tc doing a RWD burnout? awesome... wonder how much it cost to do...

With backing from Toyota, the aftermarket firm RS*R converted a run-of-the-mill tC into a rear-wheel-drive monster utilizing a BEAMS-built 3S-GE engine and taking advantage of the Toyota Avensis/Caldina all-wheel-drive chassis on which the tC is built. RS*R ripped out the abysmal 2AZ-FE 2.4-liter four-pot from the stock car, fabbed up a series of new mounts to facilitate the transverse to longitudinal conversion and dropped in the 3S-GE after fitting the four-cylinder with an HKS GT3037 turbo, intercooler, Blitz dual SBC boost controller and an AEM EMS engine management system. Approximately 400 hp is now routed to the rear wheels through a Tilton triple carbon clutch and a G-Force, five-speed sequential gearbox. RS-R coilovers keep things suspended on all four corners, and are hidden by the custom wide-body kit and Enkei RPF1 wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R1R rubber.

I likes

What's up with the shifter though? I don't watch D1 or any racing at all but do they usually make the shifter that long?

Anyone find videos of this thing drifting?

Love the ****ing engine!

The shifter is that long so the driver doesn't have to reach so far down to shift.

They should of made the X-Runner their company drift car.

Sad to say, but I am impressed. A pretty clean conversion, powertrain-wise.

already an AWD capable chassis? That explains the unnecessary weight. Time to swap in a chevy small block!

I have to admit, even though I'm not a fan of the tC, that's a pretty nice machine. I can see the Scion forums with dozens of "3SGE RWD Conversion?" threads.

most likely its a sequential gearbox, like push it forward to shift up, pull down to shift down.

Ken Gushi wasn't that great as he was all hyped up to be. I remember when I first watched him in Aug.03... definitely good for a 16yr at the time. I believed he went hiatus after he left Ford to go rally with his dad. Hopefully, those experiences will make him a better competitor.

It's so they don't have to move their hands that far from the wheel when shifting.

dam.. if they sold tC like that from factory at same price id so have picked one up....too bad they dont. if scion wanted to appeal to younger crowd start making cars like that tC..cheap

Yeah, I'm sure they're slaving away on that cheap 400hp 3SGTE widebody RWD conversion chassis with a crossmember that is most certainly custom because of the longitudinal motor. Oh btw the GT3037R and the EMS alone are about $2.7k.

Seriously. Are you fvcking crazy?

If they sold one like this from the factory it would be more than a 335i.

toyota really needs to make a RWD SPORT COMPACT!

My understanding is that with the release of the new celica with the subaru motor... the GT version will be a 200hp RWD... with the GT-Four using the sti motor and getting a 300hp AWD car. Also subaru wont make a 2 door sti or wrx as to not directly compete with itself.

Note to readers: the above post is 75% speculation. They have outlined no models with specifics and have only talked about the 1.6l engine option. The rest is made up.

Thats good to know because who would want a subaru engine in a toyota even if subaru was producing them i still wouldnt want it like that. It would be like putting a S2k engine in a miata or something.

All we know is that it will be a 1.6l subaru engine in a toyota chassis. That's it.

Last i read about 1 week ago from subaru and toyota is that it WAS confirmed that the motor was going to be used in a 2 door coupe from toyota and the GT-Four version is supposed to have the sti motor. Not entirely sure if the car will be called the Celica, but there will be a toyota using it. I don't care if the motor isn't toyota.. Toyota owns part of subaru and thats why they are doing it. We have a Yamaha motor in our car and no ones seems to care.

My brother works with the firm developing the advertising for this car. This just isn't true. Toyota/subaru has said NOTHING about offering an STi motor and have only mentioned the 1.6L powerplant but millions of people have speculated they will have an entire range of EJ suby motors. People will put anything on the internet but none of that has yet been confirmed by Toyota/Subaru. It's rumor mill stuff.

If millions of speculators were right then we'd be on the 7th gen supra right now.

... I have no word for you. We went through this with another person here. 2ndly, an F20C in a Miata is a driver's dream come true. I don't know what you're smoking but making 195-220whp N/A (depending which S2000 engine), is considered a bargain compared to modifying a B6/BP. I've dreamt about getting this swap done.... but then again, my Miata wouldn't pass inspection.

because Toyota's made some pretty powerful motors besides the 2jz and the current 3.5L lately...

Get off your Toyota fanboy bench. Be thankful that if something like this goes through, there'll be a decent aftermarket. Not to mention a better platform, something that some people had hoped for when the 7th gen was released.

yeah maybe since I see this 400 hp monster with a new engine, transmission, turbo, clutch, suspension work, drive train conversion, widebody; probably 50k+ of mods on it I want to get a scion TC too!

Cuz you know a normal tc has to be as awesome.
