September is usually when they come out. Don't buy it unless they fixed the early fuel cutoff. If it has an 8200 RPM redline, I'll be running to buy one.

My finace plans on buying a metallic blue 03 GTS w/ ALL the options as soon as they come out....

Metallic Blue is that going to be a new color?? or did you mean mecca blue.? Some new colors would be nice but IMO there not a wide range of colors they could put on the car.

Hid as a option that would be nice. I wonder how much?

Shanker...your sig is fantastic.

I don't think they'd put the limiter back to 8200 in the '03 because that would be admitting a mistake that they're very reluctant to take responsibility for.

whatever that dark blue is....i like it best........silver then black are my next favorites.....red ones are ok but overplayed i think....we are hoping to get the car for less than 20g's....i told the sales man that we want a really good deal and will give him 500 over invoice and he was like OK..that will work...

Invoice is over 20K already so i dunno how good you're gonna do, espicially fully loaded.

Carbon Blue is the slowest seller on these Celica's. I thought Canada opted for the Yellow, and dropped the CB. (?) I wouldn't be surprised if they dis-continue that color completely (next year or next generation).

well...we are going to get a GTS Automatic, were going to try and get it with the cheapest balck wheels that they have (transport wheels) that way we can put some 18's or 19's. We will have the dealer subtract the costs of the wheels/tires at what they sell for in the parts department(alredy been approved)

hehehe...I didnt know that these cars were fast...I thought that they are all about styling......my finace has a 75 Plymouth Duster 360 with J Heads/Flat Top pistons/mild cam in it as a daily driver now....so i dont think that a celica with anything less than a blower or turbo will be an upgrade....the celica were about to buy is just going to be a daily driver run up a million miles look cool car...thats about it........

This just plain sucks if you look at all the numbers, the Celica GTS even with the 6-speed is a slow car. You've got the Type R around the corner. Yes, the Celica is a HOT looking car, but that's it. It's looks and feels great to drive. But performance? Sorry, I know modded Saturns that do better. Damn the Rev limiter.

Sorry guys. I'm days away from a downpayment on the EVO VIII. I'll be sure to post pics in 03 :)

Performance is not just based on a straight line.

USA EVOIII = All Wheel Drive (AWD), Active Yaw Control (AYC) and Active Center Differential (ACD).

EVOIII will offer blistering staight-line and handling performance. My dealer is telling me at least 270HP stock for sure. I've heard this "rumor" all over the country. They got past emissions and crash-tests by making some minor internal "moves".

Actually, at night it is a very tight looking blue. And on over cast days, it looks very blue as well, but it has to be kept in immaculate condition, otherwise it looks black when it has dirt on it.

The dealer will tell you the car will drive itself to get a sale. I cant help but remember the Spec-V fiasco. But you seem to be an informed buyer who will no doubt make a smart decision. Good luck with it.

Considering my money is fully refundable, I've read some "almost for sure" things about the late-January released EVO. No, the decked out Evo will not be under 30K, if you want all the performance options it will cost about 35K. If they don't offer the active differential and YAW control, then I'll buy something else.

That's one of the dumbest comments I've heard in awhile. I'm sorry but Nascar and Drag racing aren't the only motorsports out there.

"In fact, Hotchkis tells tales of dicing toe-to-toe with a current-model BMW M3 at the same track we performed this test. To verify, we dug up the lap times produced by the Mitsubishi EVO VII we teseted last month at the same track. Turns out, Hotchkis' Celica is damned fast, cranking out lap times nearly a second quicker than Mitsubishi's supercar (56.47 sec. vs. 57.44 sec). We're believers." SCC, 08/02

And that's suspension mods only. ;) Some people don't give the celica enough credit for what its good at.

GTS LAID, get the info soon please.

I went to Mitsubishi yesterday and laid down my REFUNDABLE deposit. Afterwards, I wento Toyota and said MAKE ME WANT TO BUY A 2003 CELICA ... and they said they will have it in November, and there are ZERO changes, it will be exactly the same and that the fuel cutoff will probably be in the same place due to misshifts.

So get me some info .... you can make me change my mind by getting a Celica GTS instead, look better, and save several thousand....

The base price of the 2003 Corolla increased from what the 2002 model was. Should we expect a price increase in the 2003 Celica? I decided to wait for 3 months for the 2003 GT-S.

Always expect a price increase due to inflation

The corrolla also changed ALOT from 02. Complete redesign so that has a lot to do with it as well.

I can get my deposit back, and the car doesn't arrive till the end of January 2003. So even if they do away with the early fuel cutoff - is it going to have a higher redline? More HP? What's the dif? I'm still in line for the EVO, *loaded*. I figure I would spend the same amount modifying the Celica as buying a STOCK Evo and it would be faster from the factory.

CelicaDetective: are you sure the car will arrive in the end of January 2003? I didnt want to wait that long. Thats about 6 1/2 months away. I was expecting it out by September thats why I was even thinking of the 2003.

According to Lancer forums online, my dealer (MAJOR mitsubishi dealer in Chicagoland) and some recent news from a Mitsubishi dealer meet in Las Vegas this past week, dealers should start taking down payments to reserve the limited production EVOIII - first shipments are expected the end of January 2003

I will create a domain name that will allow people to register in a database who want their 02 rev limit replaced, if this is true about them moving it back up. We can then do a mail merge on the database and I will send it to Toyota USA!

I don't think Toyota will make HID as an option...think about it...the only Toyotas that are offered with HIS are Lexus. Not one "Toyota" brand car...no Camry, no Highlander, not even the Land Cruiser.
