why not BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2? It has better rating compared to that but $16 more each.

I've had mine for roughly a year and they are pretty much down to the tread bar. They are decent tires they suck in the rain though I always spin from a stop.

I have been running the KDW2 for the past 37,500 miles they have been great. First I’m not saying they will last 37,000 miles, they are bald as hell. I will take pics in a sec. They have been one of the best tires I have owned. They have been excellent in the rain and on the track(autocross). I would buy these tires again. However I ordered the sports because my tire fund is split between my autocross only set of tires and my dd set.

I've had them on a different car. Hard to tell how long they lasted as I drove 1k miles a week on them & it was a few years ago. Grip was great on dry days, but they did not like rain & on a simple dusting of snow they acted like they were bald. Decent tire for the price from Summit Racing though as 205 55 16 were like 65 each when I got them.

the tread on the outside of the tire wore funny, (not my alignment) so basically if u felt the outside tread it did this (nTnTnTn) every other tread peice was the same hight. made for some nasty road noise. the front ones were worse than the rears so i swaped em around so i couldn't feel the vibrations in the steering wheel. other than that they wernt bad tires as far as grip. just to noisy for my liking.

if i had to choose again tho i would still go with my BF Goodrich G-Sports.

redbull
04-15-2008, 02:26 PM
^I actually did rotate the tires every month but discount tire wouldn’t do it after 18,000 miles. They wanted me to pay $60 to rotate the tires. I have been milking every last miles out of these tires so I can get some badass autocross tires. I did order the sports 235/40r17 but they sent the wrong size 205/40r17. So I have been waiting almost two weeks for them to come in.

My daily tires will be 235/40r17 BF Goodrich G Force Sport and my autocross only will be either 195/50r15 Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R or 205/50r15 Falken Azenis RT-615. I really think I want the RE01R but it will come down to money.

btw how wide is your street rim?

redbull
04-15-2008, 07:28 PM
My daily rims are 17x8 Work Emotions CR Kai and my autocross rims are 15x7 Kosei K1

I have heard about those tires but it’s all been mixed feelings about them. Some really like them(most of the stx guys) while the guys driving small cars have not said too much about it they don’t like them.

very true. mine was a graduation gift. i had about 15k ceiling and i found my GT-S for 10k kept the G-Rents happy and i was happy too.

others on my mind were
-Cougar... lol now that i look back
-Tiburon- Korean FTL
-prelude- doesn't compare in the looks dept. to the Celica
-Jetta- could only get the 2.slow in my price range. no 1.8T or VR6

but back on topic. i picked up my G sports+ mount and balance for a little over 400 defiantly worth the $$ and you have that name brand assurance

Before i bought my celica i almost bought a 97' prelude. But im like you i just thought that the celica's looks outweighed the prelude. Some people are different though.

400 is about what i paid for my tires, I have always thought BF Goodrich makes a good tire for the money.

I've only noticed the tires slip if you are trying to haul A$$ at every stop light in the rain. Otherwise handling is fine, they drive quietly, and on the highway they go through puddles nicely. I have noticed that they do tend to wear a bit quickly but my wife barely drives 5 miles to work so I'm not worried. I'd rather get the grip and the benifits of the quietude and replace them when the time is up than get some longer wearing but possibly louder and less grippy tires.

I will also add that I've noticed that the more you try to rip through the tires in wet weather, that it seems as though the rubber hardens due to the abuse and then seems to loose more grip. If you don't abuse the tires though I've noticed that the rubber stays soft and you don't loose as much grip.

I'm a fan of shorter is better, so I would go with the 215/40R17. I don't like what I miss in first gear with the 16's compared with the 15's.
For the Z1's, so far so good. I only got to drive them in anger the first day I put them on. It's not fair to compare them with worn out falkens in the rain.

Here were the conditions.

It is very possible.

I'm actually not too far out of spec on these tires. The smallest rim suggested is 7 and those rims are 6.5. It's pushing it a little but not as much as you think. It was funny when the tire guys were putting them on and they were like DAYAMN, that is a fat tire on there.. But in the end they were wow... those look much nicer than those stupid 195 sized tires.

And the toughest critic was the Mrs. and she loved them as soon as I got home. So I consider them a win win all the way across the board. Next time though I might get some Toyo T1's in the same size. Just to compare. I have them on my Alltrac and I love them. I'm hoping the Mrs. will too. Plus they might wear just a tad bit longer. I think Falkens might be a little too hard for my wife's tender bottom. LOL:gap:

Well i finally got them mounted today, so far i like them a lot, they ride great just as good or better than my traction t/a 's. Gave em the old 40mph corner test and the sidewalls stayed put.
