View Full Version : ahh firs time pulled over
Heading to a job fair and got pulled over for my blacked out taillights. Fix it ticket - 13 $ and a month to fix it. Guy was nice though since i was nice and looked spiffy =D.
Now i gotta fix it does anyone have suggestions on how i can get rid of it? I used VHT Nightshade. So would paint thinner work? how i'm trying to find an install guide on how to take out my taillights but none so far thanks.
Pfffs.... next time ill just get it from blubatmobile and save the trouble to removing.

if it was painted, paint thinner will work, just dont get it on the car, and dont pass out from the fumes.

thats weird.. i didnt think that was illega.. check the law around where you live and make sure. you can always just go on ebay like i did and buy some black housing tail lights insted of VHT nightshading them.
i know well i moved to Visalia just two weeks ago and i NEVER got pulled over for them in San Jose. Darn Visalia cops

It could be that you had a certain part tinted that wasn't supposed to be, or it was too dark.

when i got my windows tinted i went with 15% and the legal limit here for front windows it 35% the guy that did it said that if i ever get pulled over and ticketed for it just stop buy and he will write me a receipt for removing the tint with out actually doing it.
i would try to do something similar and when you go to court take a different car and say yours is in the shop or something.
o i actually dont have to goto court they guy said i just gotta show up to the police station and show them that it tint has been cleared and pay 13 dollars.
ahh paint thinner did not work! does anyone has experience removing vht nightshade

What exactly is nightshade? Is it a film tint or what? I've heard a lot of people talk about it, but wasn't sure exactly what it was.

Don't use that either. These solvents will melt plastic. It will make a clear taillight lense look cloudy. It will get the paint off but it will also destroy your part.

What would you use?

I don't know. I can't think of any chemical that would remove the paint without destroying the light.

I think acetone would be ok as long as he was careful and didnt give the tails a bath in it.

I cant really think of any alternative other than buying new lights. so yeah, give acetone a try. But like silverGT said, "don't give the tails a bath in it". Don't use any more than you have to.

Maybe he should use nail polish remover since it'd be like diluted acetone? Less chance of damage? :shrugs:

I have read that people were having limited success removingVHT Nightshade off tails with acetone.
However "Goo Off" is said to work very well for this.
