This is what I'm thinking of getting for my system, please give feed back. Note: I have a baby at home, so I can't fill up the whole trunk.

HU: Pioneer DEH-P840MP
Front speakers: Alpine SPX-177a (60w)
Rear: Alpine SPR-174a (50w)
Amps: JL Audio 300/2 for sub (300w bridge)
JL Audio 300/4 for speakers (75w each)
Sub: 1 JL Audio 10W6 (300w)
I want 10w7 but it's too expensive for me, $500.
1 Capacitor
Pioneer XM tuner and antenna

Estimated cost is around $2k -$2.5K

I'm going to check with TimePort to see if he can give me a good deal. Since I don't know jack about car installation and too chicken to mess with it, an audio especialist will probably do the installation.

thanks for your feedback

Sounds good to me, the JL sub is a good idea cause the 10W6 will require very little airspace in a sealed box and will keep a pretty flat frequency curve. I think its somewhere around .6 cu ft. But I am sure that you already knew that.

the only thing i'd strongly recommend is a jl 250/1 instead of a 300/2. because the 250/1 is going to be a class D, so it will take much less current draw, so it'll be more efficient. you also won't be bridging and adding distortion. of course then you're getting 250, which it is rated at 300, so i donno. i would have got a w3 anyway. just because its a 6 doesn't mean its better. the w6's are older than the w3's and i still like the w3's better.

i gotta say im not a big fan of Alpine speakers, but thats just me. I think you could do a lot better. How much are you willing to pay for speakers?

Probably $400 for Components, and $250-$300 for coaxial speakers. What model would you guys recommend. I'll also look into the JL 250/1
thanks,

I`ve had the "Pioneer DEH-P840MP" for about a month now and I highly recomend it.

One thing though, make shure all your tone settings, EQ, etc on the head are set to flat at first, then adjust your amps for the best sound. Then you can adjust you EQs, etc. :)

SilverRide,
what's the different between the 840 and 8400? I heard the the premium 840 has better connections/wires and that it attaches to your steering wheel? Are there more???

the 840 is pioneer premier. pioneer premier carries a 2 year warranty instead of one. now i don't know for sure, but this is probably because they're less mass produced and are built better. they usually have higher voltage amp outputs (which is very important). so its worth the little extra.

components. i like boston pro's in that price range. i've heard the polk momo's are better but i've yet to hear them for myself. focal polykevlars are also very nice but have a big tweeter.

the whole set up is pretty nice in my opinion.....if possible, go with something other than Alpine components......try the JL XR series, or go with Phoenix Gold.....they are a much nicer quality component brand....and i do agree that the 250/1 is the way to go.....JL says 250 but the amp is very under rated.....im sure it will put out 300w for the w6......as far as sub wise.....w3 and w6 are practically identical in sound.....the real only difference is that the w3 has new technology which doesn't neccessarily mean thats its better or worse.....either way you can't lose.....300/4 is good...

i myself have 3 10" w6 and a JL 500/1, but i am going to customize my trunk to fit jus one 10" w6 and i will be running the 500/1 to it....meaning that i will have two w6's left over.....i am still debating what to do with those.....if you need help with any install, feel free to pm me.....i know a thing or two about audio installs.....and i have connections to a superior audio shop in my town.....the owner of that shop jus bought a 2002 Celica gt and its already N2O.....ok im off subject now.....but pm me if you need any info....

I've tried the MB quarts componet, but it was kinda too bright of a sound for me. I ended up getting the cerwin vega one. Now i know they're not known for there speakers, its pretty nice. Very strong mid and low. The highs are sharp and clear. Not too bright like the MB's.
btw i have the pioneer's too, they nice. Cool looks, and fun to mess (play) with.
