so the story goes my car was vandalized last weekend and the side mirrors were smashed.
i got some 2nd hand ones from ebay with the same 1D0 color from some car dealer.

he said it was in "nice" condition but when i got it, forget about the rock chips, but the paint, unlike my car(which is smooth and shiny), the 1D0 paint on it feels so rough.. and it doesn't have that shine on it.

anyone knows whats wrong with it? my friend suggested that it might be because its out there for too long without cleaning and all the dirt got stuck on it or something, but it doesn't feel that way.

my old smashed up side mirror feels really smooth and shines...

and is repainting the only option? if it is, anyone has any idea how much it'll cost?

Sounds like the paint is oxidized on your mirror. Happens from being outside in the elements without a lot of care. The previous owner probably rarely waxed that part so it will only get duller and duller over time.

Unfortunately at this point your only option is to repaint and clear coat if you want that shine and smoothness back. Call a paint shop to get a quote. I've never gone in with just a mirror lol.

Hope that helps, and sorry to hear.

If I were you I'd keep on eye on the Parts For Sale section or make a Want To Buy thread. Occasionally you'll see some OEM mirrors which you def can't go wrong with.

i tried doing that just no one responded as quickly as i need it.

anyway,
there is like a long line of paint crack on my door underneath the side mirror and its going to chip off really soon. i just accidentaly chip one small piece off.
i was wondering if theres any paint sticker that has the OEM color so u can stick on it to prevent it from being accidentally chipped off to reveal a long line of unpainted door?

i tried to use toyota paint marker to paint over it. but seems like the paint doesn't hold

Try PMing Blue Batmobile or DanteGTS, they sell 3rd brakelight covers in OEM colors or painters tape would work temporarily.
