it's just that i got new enki Or52 rims 16"x7"with new falken tires. these tires are sized 205-50-16, which is what the guys at edgeracing.com told me i should go with. my rims came in yesterday and just by coincidence i noticed that the 205-50-16 sized tire is the same size as the stock sized tire on my car. now, i have high performance tires, but am i stuck with the same sized tires as i started with, or am i actually better off with these new tires? is 205 a good performing size or could i have gone wider without having to worry about the tire rubbing around turns? thanks.

Since you ordered a rim in stock size ther, prolly put a stock size tire on it, GT-S come with that size rim don't they?

16x7. You need 215 tires... 205 is 6.5" which is stock.. With your new rims you should be able to fit 225 max I believe. The wider the better.

205/50/16 is very close to the stock diameter for speedometer/odometer consistency purposes. That's probably why they recommended it to you.

How wide a 205 is varies widely between different manufacturers and sometimes between different tire models within the same manufacturer. For instance, my Azenis 205/50/15 are in practice about the same width as the Hankook RS-2 in the 225/45/15 size. No joke. I've seen pictures of comparisons done.

Unless you're looking for a gearing advantage you should stay as close to the stock diameter as possible to keep your speedometer and odometer accurate.

Not wide enough
My sig disagrees with you. I have 205s. The compound is more important than the tire width (unless we're talking gross differences; and 20mm doesn't qualify). Bridgestone makes the RE-01R in a 195/50/15, but practically speaking it's about as wide as my 205s and generates more grip. A number is just that: a number.
