Does anyone know anything about this brand, and how reliable it is. This looks incredible for the price, it's 45 shipping, which is expensive but would bring it to 245 for a 6 channel amp which is powerful. Plus amps are heavy, so that kinda justifies the shipping. Anyway, what do you all think of this? I don't want to be cheap, but in a way I do:

dude. don't do it.

the sound quality will suck. amps play a huge difference. i know this because i just switched out a cheap amp like that for a name brand good one with .08 distortion, although it had half the wattage. and guess what, it sounds a MILLION times better. i mean, big time.

Agree 100% with J3andSeed. Honestly, you get what you pay for when it comes to amps. I am sure some folks here can point you in the right direction for a good price and good quality.

what I"m really looking for is a 6 channel amp or a 4 channel (not too powerful) w/ a powerful 2 channel. I'm going to get 2 10's or 2 12's, not quite sure, and I basically want very clean sound, but also able to put out.

you only need 5 channels. your sub channel is mono. you don't want your subs running stereo. the jl 5 channel amp is badass. expensive though. probably best off w/ a 4 and 2 chan amps. if you want clean sound don't get that amp. what speakers are you using and i'll tell ya what i'd get.

look on ebay for soundstream references, ppi's, phoenix gold's, those are the best.

THD is a big player in sound quality so consider that, but Bang for the Buck Wise, youre not going to come close...

Sure, thats not going to sound as great as the expensive amps, but your also not going to be in any db/sound quality drags....somthing comparable would have to easily cost 1000+

I bought an "LA Sound" amp off of ebay which not only thumped for 2 years, but was rated at 500watts...paid 40 bucks...

and get this.....I had my install buddy at a local electronic store hook it up to a voltage meeter and calculated the total power output, and it was putting out a consistant 470+ watts at @5ohms....

I swapped that amp for a Fosgate 800.2 wich was suppose to be twice as good...I noticed no differance in sound quality, it was obviouly louder, but this "Bad Ass" fosgate likes to over heat after about 30mins of hard use....

My little blue cheapo would pound for hours non-stop and I never had any trouble....

Just from my experiance, all electronics will eventually have issues and they are all made in some sweat shop on the other side of the world..(well, I think Orian is USA made still)

There's a good chance, that the person that built that 1000watt Pyramid, also built that 500watt Pioneer that cost twice as much.

When you buy big name amps, your really just buying the name more then anything...

(sorry for spelling)

Got to disagree with you there. There is alot to be said for buying name brand equipment. The quality being the most important. Fosgate is no longer one of the premier mobile audio amps. They have been falling off for some time. JL Audio Precision Power, Xtant, Alpine are still and will continue to be better amps than the standard Jenson or LA Sounds. The quality of the singnal can and should be more important than the wattage you are putting out.

Rule of thumb for wattage is that you gain approx. 3 dB every time you double the output. So a 1000w amp is really only capable of 3 dB more than a 500w. The difference you hear is the ability of the cleaner signal to use more of the amps ability. Not as much the higher power output. You can go to radio shack and buy the best Technics Reciever and Optimum speakers pushing 200 w per channel and be shamed by a Quality Denon or Yamaha pushing 80w to B&W speakers.

Quality should always be a concern. Premium prices only hold up long term for premium products.

don't get that. Just try to look for a nice 4 channel and a mono amp to run your subs.

some of what you said may be true, but you are not buying a name. thats bs. for instance, when you buy a jl audio amp, you pay a whole lot more. because you're paying for all research that went into their regulated power supply setup, and their use of all quality parts. cheap stuff is cheap. i've worked selling electronics for almost 3 years and i've learned that "you're really just buying the name" is the biggest bunch of bull****. Most companies try as hard as they can to give you the most for the money, so you'll buy from them. and some companies just make a product as cheap as possible, cutting every corner they can because they'll sell a whole lot if they're the cheapest.

but i've also learned reliability is random. so yeah, your amp that pounded for 2 years is not surprising. and your RF amp that sucked isn't surprising either. they're not "badass" anyway... i myself have had cheap amps last forever, but when i switched the out for good stuff i was amazed at the difference i had been missing.

i've got a soundstream reference 405s, which is 5 channel, which i've owned personally for about 5-6 years... i had 4 rockford 10's running off it in my old car along w/all my mids/highs, and the thing is solid.... i bought it used off someone, and now have it in my current car.... still sounds as good as the day i put it in my old car which sounded as good as the day it was bought, which was probably 7-8 years ago....

Dude, get the alpine 5 channel... its about 80w x 4 and 120 to the sub, unless you dont mind losing your hearing that should be fine for you.... and its only $250... and I have always had good results with alpine stuff.

i used to have an alpine v12 4channel back in the day... it was good for mids/highs, but the bass that came out of it wasn't that great IMO
