My car is stock right now, and the first thing I want to do is to lower it about 1.5 inch. But I don't want my car to be all bouncy, what do you suggest?

he's right, lowering allows your car to handle better but the byproduct is gonna be bounce, and thats not due to you lowering it, it is due to all of us paying an extremely insane amount of taxes for roads that suck total ass-

i used tanabe 210's that i got from a member on here with some tokico blue hp series, overall i am very happy with the performance but i cannot lie that traveling in this area can get real old with all the potholes and total lack of maintenance-although no one can deny the ability to just throw a celica around like a toy with the right suspension setup

Welcome to the forum.

Get the Tein S Tech springs with KYB AGX shocks/struts. The drop is about exactly what you are looking for and the shocks/struts are adjustable. With the adjustable shocks you can adjust the way you like the car to ride. If you like the car to be really stiff or kind of soft you can have what you prefer. You just have to remember that any lowered car pretty much will not ride as smooth as stock suspension.

Go through this:
Sticky: Spring Rate Database (http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=232289)
It's a sticky from the Suspension and Brake tuning Forum.

Pick something with the lowest spring rates, yet still lowers the car.

No drop is the most comfortable really. That should be no surprise as the car was designed to be that way. 1.5 is a good size drop, but bumps are going to hit harder and you'll feel just how terrible the roadways are. Softer tires help, low profile will make it bounce more. I have a 2.25/2.5 with 40R17s and its rough on freeways and local roads.

i have a lil somethin somethin coming in over the summer i hope, it'll be custom and it's gonna be adjustable inside the car. height and dampening... and it'll be expensive.

i'll post a nice thread when the time comes. till then, look for teh tein's.

no wonder your car looks like a four wheeler :puke:

If you want to lower your car, get coilovers. It's expansive but worth it. Popular ones are Teins. If you want spring and shocks/strut combo, its cheaper but you can't set the height.

cut the stock springs

are you a honda guy?

cutting your springs is the last thing you want to do. It will create crazy bounce even when you ride on a smooth surface and if you tell people you cut your stock springs, you will get a lot of people laughing at you.

i have the eibach sportline with yellow koni inserts, I love the way my car handles but it is very bumpy ride especially on certain roads here in michigan.

Only car i ever drove that has good handling without compromising comfortability were the BMW's.

BMW/Porsche/Mercedes-Benz and Audi have all managed to balance this since their inception.

Honda has figured it out with their TSX - that car handles amazingly (I simply couldn't upset it despite trying VERY hard) yet rides quite well.

Chevrolet has it down with their Corvette as well, but the steering isn't as precise as it should be (credit 1 billion lbs of V8 engine up front for that one).
