I'm really liking the new celicas :hitit: (Me  to '02 celica) I kinda of shied (spelling?) away from wanting one because i was afraid i wouldn't like the FWD (look at sig to see what I like to drive :D ) but after seeing the skidpad data (.84g's?) I felt this was a negligible issue. So if i do buy one besides breaking it in what else should I look at\look for to go wrong or something that will be a PITA? Also did any of you try to buy your cars from the dealers fleet dept. If so what was the price?

Try to get an '00 or '01, the rev limiter is higher on the GT-S model and dont get an automatic:nono:

i got 2002 celica gt black full options for 300 dollars under invoice.

This was at North County Toyota in fullerton and the guy was willing to go out of the way to find the exact one I wanted.

btw I got my deal through the fleet manager.

Don't worry I don't like autos either. what's the rev limiter on the 02 does it get in the way of the cars power band or something? BTW what is the invoice of the car like 22,000 fully loaded?

Not sure what the invoice was, but if you can, go out of jersey to buy the car. I bought mine in Monticello NY, up in the catskills. A hell of alot cheaper than ANY dealer in this state.

Ok Question? what's up with the rev limiter on the '02 model versus the '01 model. I asked a toyota tech today about it and he didn't know anything about it. (whether he ever worked on a celica or knew about them I don't know but he did know about my car :) ) I'm trying to find one to test drive but the dealer I went to didn't have any :(

'00-'01 Rev Limiter 8300RPM
'02 Rev Limiter 7800RPM

It was hard enough to land on the 2nd cam with the limiter at 8300RPM, but at 7800RPM its next to impossible!

sounds like what happens when people try to think for you. Anyway to change the limiter setting can I get a chip. I don't think I'll be able to find an '01 I want

you can get a 02 and get a 01 ecu and knock sensor.. there's a huge thread in technical discussion about it.

umm. if they try to make you pay too much, tell them you're gonna walk out of there, they will go to their manager's office over and over again...

my salesperson went back around 10-15 times, and i smoked about half of his cigarettes.... i was there 5 hours... left w/a new car :)

that was my first new car buying experience, i was by myself, and did it all myself at the age of 22 :)

I did all communication including price negotiations over email. I really liked that because I had time to think about things before replying. I also had any information I needed at my fingertips.

www.carbuyingtips.com has a lot of good information.

I try not to ask toyota techs anything, when picking up my car I met a tech that was certain there was a TRD Supercharger for the GTS. He then proceeded to decribe VVTL-i as "kinda like a mini supercharger"
