Is anybody running a 35mm offset on 18 inch rims with a 2" drop from ground control coilovers. I wanted to get a 43 offset but they sent me a 35 and told me to go ahead and mount one tire and try it on to see if it rubs (I'm thinking it will). But if one of you guys can tell me for sure, I'll know what I should do. BTW the rims are c5 evos and the tires are going to be 215/40/18.

I'll know what I should do."

Get your money back. 18" wheels are:

Extremely heavy.
Serve NO purpose on such a relatively low-powered car.
Are designed to give clearance to VERY large brakes.
Have HIGH Moment of Inertias compared to a 15" or 16" wheel. Your car will not stop as quickly, turn as quickly or accelerate as quickly...
You've essentially re-geared your car "taller" therefore it will not accelerate as quickly. Hmmm...
Limit tire choice.
Cause you to spend a lot of money for tires.

I have a suggestion that you may or may not like. Try a lightweight 15" wheel like the Kosei K-1 Racing wheel and mount a set of Bridgestone Potenza S03 Pole Position tires. The wheels weigh only 12 lbs and are spun cast aluminum so they are very strong and they are used for racing in Japan. They only cost $139 each and the tires can be had for only $110 per corner. Try http://www.tirerack.com/

Hope this helps.

Shakes head...

Dude, the guy isn't asking you this. STFU unless you are answering the guy's question. To help answer the original question, the width of the wheel is what's going to make the difference here. I have 8" wide wheels with a 35mm offset and Progress springs, which I measured at a 1.75" drop. I have no problems. And Potenza S-03 PP tires come in 225/35-18. Go with tires this size, it will keep the overall gearing the same.

I agree the reply may have been a little bit out of line, but give the guy a break, he is just trying to help the person out so they don't put the wheels on and wonder why their car is running so slow. Believe it or not, a lot of people on these boards post about their car being so laggy after modding them a lot, and you look in their sig and see they have huge rims. I wonder if that might be the problem. Hmm...

Track night the 16's go on, Saturday night, cruise to the club and let the chickies see the blingin' 18's

or....."Hey ladies, check out theses killer 15" bad boys...They look ugly and have a big ugly bubble tire, but Im faster at the track with em on"

lol, that would be funny....

Thanks for your SIMPLE-MINDED reply, Jesse. He asked a questiona and I noted that he had not yet received a reply. My post is very relevant whether he's wise enough to recognize it or not.

Thanks, 2002_GT_Celica, you suspect what I know.

Red_NOS_Celi, I drive an ITR, it has the set-up that I mentioned. There's no need for "Bling" on the car. It is what it is. But then by the looks of things you may not understand.

By this logic, every time someone talks about putting a stereo system in their car I should point out that the increase in weight will affect performance and all the times people ask about hyper white bulbs I should point out that the coating on the bulbs decreases light output. The relevance just doesn't matter. Accept that these are street cars and not race cars, and people are going to do things that are appearance-driven. I think you read enough of this forum to know that people put oversized wheels on thier cars, regardless of the performance penalty. You are an intelligent guy and there is no need to troll this board and spout your engineer geek-speak at every oportunity.
