Mini NY meet (sports & bbq meet)

This will be a mini NY meet (not our traditional end of summer NY meet) that will encourage most of us LI/NYers to come out to play and show off your car.

I plan on having this meet in Eisenhower park, Long Island. The park is right off a major parkway and will be easy for every1 to get to. Come and have some good clean fun. I plan on having a BBQ and playing some softball/basketball

Fine by me. I vote we try to make it a little earlier in the day too. A 3.5 hour drive will leave me kinda tired for work at 7:30am Monday morning if I leave late.

I think I'm going to buy a GPS before I come up there... any of you guys have one? Recommendations? I've used a friend's Garmin and it was pretty nice including a relatively easy to use interface. I was thinking about getting one of those.

I have/had a Garmin Nuvi 650. That thing was amazing. very nice 4.3" touch screen display which was easy to use & see. I took it on my PA trip and it was great :thumbup:

I bought a TomTom yesterday :chuckles:

I've read sooo many damn reviews on Garmin vs. TomTom and alot of them seem to be sort of sided because of the user. I.E. User just didn't like how it was setup in comparison to his old Garmin/TomTom/Magellan etc. or stupid things like that.

I don't go out of town alot and when I do.. it's always to a larger place (NY, NJ, Ocean City etc) so I'm not too worried about the smaller number of POIs. I got quite a good deal on the TomTom in comparison to the features it has. FM Transmitter and up to an 8gb SD card will turn it into an over the waves MP3 player, which got alot of good reviews about that. Bluetooth compatible with my iPhone. We'll see, even if I end up hating it (doubtful) I'm pretty sure I can sell it and not lose much more than $50 or so.

I'm thinking at this point my main concern is having it get me to this BBQ/meet... I've had some pretty miserable experiences driving around NY so we'll see. :chuckles:

no it did not. It was my fault. It ended up being a creazy weekend for me and i could not get every1 together

plus going for a friends bday and coming back home to sleep @ 6.15am the meet morning did not help either
