When everyone wants a fully sick 7ltr POS GM v8.
Tru though Ferrari has done much smaller before and it worked well, ie F40, GTO ect and smaller v12 of the F50.

Yes?
I'm pretty sure the 4.3 is Ferrari's largest v8. The largest engine they use period is the v12 in the Enzo and MC12, which I believe comes in somewhere around 6.0L.
Moral of the story: you don't need an 8.3 liter srt10 engine to make a lot of power.

Needs a set of tubi's.
For a ferrari though?
that's one of the biggest V8s Ferrari has ever made.

Considering GM put a 4.3L V6 in some of it's trucks and SUVs, that's small for a V8.

The Ferrari V8 makes more than twice as much horsepower as the GM engine, without turbos.
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd . . . . . . . its leaked.

So....
This is going to be the 599 replacement? or the 612?
So....

neither.
F430 = sports car (V8, MR)
599 GTB = GT car (V12, FR)
612 Scagliette = 2+2 GT (V12, FR)
California = 2+2 sports car (V8, FR)

Scaglietti*
So its basically a vert 599 with a smaller engine. Yet still a GT.
What is the competition for this new car? DBS?

Ferrari’s beautiful new “California”

“Even if you have a thing for Lamborghini, and I do, you have to like the new Ferrari California”

You all know what the original Ferrari California looks like, right? That is, those of you who have seen that iconic American comedy movie, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, and who hasn’t.
The star of that movie was a Ferrari California; one of the most beautiful Ferrari’s ever made. Well, that’s what the movie car looked like at least, but was in fact, a kit car based on an MG chassis, or so the story goes.
The new Ferrari California is more than just a stunning looker. It’s also a supercar with performance to boot.

Powered by a 4.3-litre, direct injection V8 engine that, for the first time in Ferrari’s history, is mid-front mounted and good enough to see 0-100km/h in less than 4.0 seconds.

Gearshifts are via a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with F1-Trac traction control, the same system as employed on the glorious 599 GTB Fiorano.

Standard spec will also include Brembo Carbon Ceramic brakes, which should bring the folding hard top spyder to a very sudden halt, indeed.

Like the rest of the Ferrari fleet, the California will be relatively light. An Aluminium chassis and body panels will see to that.
This Ferrari beauty will be revealed to the public at the Paris Motor show in October this year, but stay tuned to CarAdvice.com.au for more pics and details of the car shortly.
Im not feeling the hood scoop and i cant see myself buying this instead of a F430 or a 599 or 612.
But im sure it will sell like crazy, i know my dad would love it since hes always trying to find a reasonable 2+2 ferrari and the 456 is getting pretty dated.

I can't see you buying a Ferrari, period.

At least Ferrari retros have some sort of technical evolution.
Funny.

I don't know how much Ferraris are there, but whatever you spend on the Ferrari, plan to spend that much again on maintenance. Remember - if you don't use all Ferrari parts you void the warranty. If you work on it yourself, you void the warranty and reduce the resale value by tens of thousands of dollars. An oil change costs roughly $5000.
The only people I have ever met who could realistically afford a Ferrari were ultra-rich oil boys playing in DC.
is it me or does it look like they just ripped off Maserati's Cambriocorsa Spyder?
