Hey I just bought a 2001 Blue GT Celica.

It has 48,000 miles on it. I got it for $11,300 with titles, taxes, liscense plate together.

I'll post pics later.

What is the first thing I should do with it? I don't know how to lower the car? What do I need to lower it, and do I need to bring it to a shop to have them do it for me? What is the best brand for the equipment to lower it?

I want a stiff ride, with performance and handling prioroties over ride quality. What should I switch for the struts and suspension?

What should I check for and replace?

Here are pics of the car at the dealer ship.

depends on your budget honestly. If you really want handling over ride quality and have a fair amount to spend then you should go coilovers. The ride is going to be stiffer but you do get the bonus of being able to adjust the ride height depending on what kind of driving you will be doing. If your budget isn't quite that big then you should go with a spring and shock/strut combo. For springs it depends on what kind of drop you are looking for. the biggest would be the skunk2 springs and a more mild drop would be tein s techs or tokico's. whatever you do make sure you upgrade your shocks as well as the springs or you will end up blowing them. the cheapest combo I have seen is probably tokico's package deal for struts and springs. check the parts catalog for a list of prices and drops that should give you an idea of what to do.
