Well i saw a friend and i asked if i had showed him my subs yet.. and he hadnt seen them so i decided to show him and another friend what i have, (2)10w7's with a 1000/1, and well my friend put on some wu-tang-clan and i had my bass control, built into my headunit +/- 6, i usually roll -4 cuz the subs hit hard as helll.. well i decided to hit it up on +6 and yeh my fuse lasted for about 2 hits of the subs.. and here is the aftermath:

and yes those are air bubbles in the plastic on each side.. the metal is actually sticking out a little bit. Also if you look on the actual metal in the middle the tips look like they are corrided.

Enjoy :gap:

Should rent a termlab and see what you actually hit ;)

80a fuse?

It sounds like you have a nice setup but u need a much bigger fuse. I only have 1 13w7 and i run a 200 amp on my wiring and a 200 amp on the amp itself.

The 1000/1 should be externally fused @ 100A - how big of a fuse did you blow anyways? And Im not sure about the termlab - I know a guy in the states through a friend that was going to let me rent it if I paid shipping, but we never got around to getting it from him.

Yes its an 80A. I was told to run this by a shop because apparently the Amp itself only has a 80A internal fuse. and allout.. you know the fuses go by amp size not sub size right?

You might want to change shops ;) The JL slash-series amps have no internal fusing, hence why you have to fuse externally. This is also why buying second-hand JL amps is very hit-and-miss, because the previous owner could have blown the amp and you wouldnt know until it got to you, and theyre laughing away with your money.

I had a shop bench test it before i did anything and the store covers the amp 100% and both shops said they had 80A internal? and a couple sites say 100A internal :shrugs:

Last couple times I checked there was no internal fuse, hence the reason for needing to fuse externally. I'd email JL just to be sure, but I wouldnt count on a 100% internal fuse (something you cant see from the outside).

Yeh i know.. but pm me there answer.. if they dont got anything ill just have to be careful. well i should be fine with the fuse cuz it doesnt 100% fine as it is now.. the only time it blows is if the bass is at +6

To avoid that sort of thing in the future, replace the fuse with a dime.

FUSE REQUIREMENTS
It is absolutely vital that the main power lead to the amplifier(s) in the system be fused within 18 inches (45cm) of the positive battery post connection. The fuse value at each power wire should be high enough for all of the equipment being run from the power wire. If only the 1000/1 is being run from the power wire, we recommend a 100A ANL be used.
SERVICING YOUR JL AUDIO AMPLIFIER
If your amplifier fails or malfunctions, please return it to your authorized JL Audio dealer so that it may be sent into JL Audio for service.
There are no user serviceable parts or fuses inside the amplifier. The unique nature of the circuitry in the JL Audio amplifiers requires specially trained service personnel.

Straight from the manual. I guess that solves that.

Im surprised they told you that it had an internal fuse. Imagine if you didnt have an inline fuse...

Better stock a fire extinguisher

i've always had one as you may recall my wiring in the past was not up to par. when i redid all the wires i tried out the fire extinguisher to see if it worked.... the powder just kinda poued out the edge in a slow dribble. wouldnt really have helped ;)

02celica

the good thing is that they told you smaller than you wanted, so you didn't blow the amp or sub
