Wow that does look really good. If it was in black id be drooling. I might have to actually consider this car and go all black with it.

it gets decent gas mileage...if you're pinching pennies over gas, go drive a Fit, anything that can move out of it's own way decently enough is going to get under 30 mpg

Easily one of the best I've seen. The gaping mouth still hasn't grown on me but I will agree that black is the way to go.

the white looks the best IMO on that car..It contrasts with the grill really nicely...I've seen three on the road so far..In person they look strange...like they need a drop in the back. The rear end looks awkward in person from a distance

that black one is jaw dropping. By far the sickest looking EvoX i've seen yet

Do they all have the front plate to the side like that?
lVlemphizStylez

It's JDM to have your plate cocked to the side...you didn't get the Memo??
All jokes aside, I don't know why they have it to the side...I wouldn't be surprised if it was in fact some JDM fad

Otherwise it would block the intercooler. It's fairly obvious why.
American evos also have the plate mounted to one side.

lmao block the intercooler?? a license plate that small isn't going to interfere with the cooling ability of a FMIC with that much surface area, it's not like it's a side mount and it's covering the entire intercooler. Lol if that were the case then no car should mount the license plate in front of their radiator (aka just about where every front license plate is mounted on a front bumper) for fear of overheating

One thing is "pinching pennies", and another one is 18 mpg with premium. But hey! Its either that or 30+ mpg by your statement.

Because it would block the air to the intercooler.

Oh! I didn't see this other answer.
It does block some air, which goes against the efficiency of the intercooler. I guess that since no civic has that, you have no clue about it :gap:

yea 3+ years of mechanical engineering and 2 years of advanced fluid dynamics wouldn't help me to understand any of that...silly me what was I thinking

Mitsubishi's engineers know more than you.
They designed the car that way - there's a big black square where the plate is supposed to go.
Everyone else you see with the plate cocked to the side are copying OEM EVO plate placement.

you really think it was the engineers that placed the plate there??? then you're even more of a fool than I thought (and I always thought you were a pretty large one). Do you think they also formed the headlights the way they are due to efficiency too??? Cosmetic things like that the engineer isn't working on..Yes that plate placement is cosmetic...

Reduction in airflow is never a good thing man. Is it negligable? Who knows. All I know is that I have NEVER seen an intercooled car that has the license plate placed over the intercooler, and has a fraction of the intercooler blocked by the license plate. And I live in a front-license plate state out in Long Island, NY, and frequent the ghetto-fabbed Honda build scene in Queens & Brooklyn a lot. It's not a JDM fad at all. It's just common sense, especially if you got a nice machine that can run 150+ mph.

I guess you're not as familiar with the car design process as you think you are.
Let me educate you
First the designers build the car the way they want it to look.
Then the engineers tell them they're dreamers and tweak pretty much everything to function better.
Then the bean counters tell everyone its too expensive and suggest cheaper alternatives.
Then the suits make the final decision and balance the competing demands of design, function, and economy - depending on corporate culture and the goals for the vehicle.

you're right I have no idea about the career I'm about to graduate in...I just spent 3+ doing nothing. Placing that plate on the top black bar portion of that front bumper will not cause that car to perform any less. It will not dyno any lower, and it won't run the quarter any slower due to it..
You remind me of the guys that swear by god on ram intakes over a basic CAI or something. Such things are negligible in the big picture. I personally feel that was a cosmetic call and not some engineering ingenuity...
But eh, I'm done, cause I have Car n Driver professionals telling me about engineering methods...(that's funny)

Note to both of you: keep the posts short. 1 joke on the other's behalf, 1 half assed fact, and don't blabber on.

Why the hell would you put the plate over the intercooler when you could just put it to the left?
You're fvcking retarded if you think it will not significantly block airflow. I'm fvcking sick and tired of you coming on threads just to randomly argue with people.
