its not worth risking screwing up a 900 dollar toyota only replaceable circuit board and console

ya it is.....especially if he messes up the cluster, he's gonna pay all 900 for it. it is worth it, but only if you're really in love with your celica.

on the second pic, why isn't the redline showing? after 6.6k, its just black. so if u do this mod, the redline is not visible during the night time?

moondoggs, how is it in the gauge in the morning? is the blue light bright enough to see in the sun light?

I had Skunk Killer do mine guages. And yeah, he IS the man. He's a machine...does great work. Oh and the redline is still there. It's just darker at night, but you can still see it. I think moondogzz just needs a better camera.

Absolutely Beautiful. How did the orange come off? Was it from using a solvent?

He did mine too. Only disappointment is the needles during the day as I got mine done in red. It looks absolutely sweet at night but during the day its plain white with a orange/peach color. But it looks sweet with my APC indiglo gauges. Skunk does a good job. But it is definitely a risk, I saw this first hand with one of my friends here. But thing worked out.

eh... all of you that are scared of this mod are a bunch of wusses...

I've been taking my gauge cluster apart since dec 2000 (my car was 2 months old) (remember when i made indiglos before they existed for this car?)
and everything's been all gravy thusfar.

I just did someone's gauge cluster last night, w/no problems.
you people are just skuuuuurred!

Hey Russ, what is the best way to get the LED's off the boards? After melting the solder, you can't get rid of it. I was going to pick up a desoldering braid and some fine tweezers. I figure desolder one side while pulling up on the LED with the tweezers. Sound good?

i have some forceps ( i think ) (sciscor lookin pliers) and what i do is
-grab the LED
-melt the solder on one side, pull gently
-hit up the other side, pull gently
-go back and forth until it just pops off

then after i'm done getting it off, i smooth off the solder on the contact of the circuitboard and add solder if necessary for the new LED
