Hi everyone, I found this forum when I was doing some research on the Celica, and I thought someone might be able to answer a question for me. Nice site, btw, seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people on here. :)

I'm going to look at a 2004 Celica GT on Saturday. The dealer said it was a 6 speed with leather and a sunroof. I might be wrong, but I thought that the GT-S came in a 6 speed, and the GT does not (only 5 speed)

Did he get the trim wrong, or is there a 6 speed option on the '04 GT?

Sorry, just confused. Thanks for any feedback.

would be nice if u were seeing a 2004 gts on saturday, because im pretty sure only gt-s has 6 speed

Yea GTS is 6 speed and GT is 5. They more then likely got the trim wrong, unless a swap was done.

Thanks, guys. That's what I thought... Now only if the dealer doesn't try to rape me on the monthly payments... :)

If I were to bet, I'd go with it really being a GT and they are clueless about which transmission is in it.

It would really be nice if they are selling you a GT-S at GT prices though.

When I went to look at a 95 gt, they said it was a 6-cylinder-HA HA HA

dealers have to spit out so many car ads... that they are bound to be in-accurate some of the time. i actually get a kick out of looking through car ads and finding all sorts of mistakes... it could be a 5spd GT, could be a 6spd GTS ...heck i've seen 6spd GTS advertised, and the 9pics with it, where an auto GT.... so really, ya never know tell you see it in person.

the gt was offered with a 6spd but only in europe. it is likely they just didnt know what tranny was in it. heck my tag on keys i got from the dealer says "white 2000 Celica gts 5spd"

another possiblity is that a swap was done. if you want to know what engine it has just pop the hood. gt-s's have aluminum intake manifolds while gt's are plastic. also gt-s frame's come with rear disk brakes while the gt's have drums.
