how did you paint your engine panels and dash(most likely a bodyshop)?
is it the factory color for the dash and panels if it is
looks sick man...
all you need is a nice exhaust
maybe a spoiler, scoop, and cf hood
your car will be mean a hell than:)
i like it a lot now though

Thanks for the compliment. Everything painted on dash, under hood and in trunk (no pics yet)was done at a paint shop (3P0 paint). As for a cf hood, I'm so pissed at rock chips that I may get one. I need a garage first and a beater. I'm not sold on huge show-type investment for a daily driver.

P.S.

The vents are popped out in the interior photo. They're also painted red, but I'm diggin' the coverless vent look for now and its not easy getting vents back in without nicking the sides that are affixed to the dash.

Did they just use regular old paint to paint the valve cover on the engine? Doesn't that have to be heat resistant? I want to do the same thing but I wasn't sure if the body shop had to use a certain paint.

OH and when you painted the plastic pieces did you paint the snap in rivets or not?

WillyWonka

Regular paint was used. If it doesn't hold up, I have larryd's Injen engine cover as backup. [think of what I could get for Larry's cover on eBay ;) ]

I took the rivets off when I gave the shop the plastics. I think I would've insulted them by giving them the rivets since they did the interior and engine bay for free. I'll paint them with a brush + 3P0.

Thanks jotan. The exhaust is next. Right now I'm working with the exhaust in seclusion look...almost as bad as driving with an unpainted kit.

6SPDGTS,

I took somewhat of a chance. I've never seen the combo before (kit, color, wheels), let alone the Flik Lex (some wheels are very close however) in person. Thanks for the good word.

Thanks Larry and HilfigerCelica. Larry, those shots are at Brandywine Park in Wilmington and the cobblestone shot is at Monkey Hill in the park. Huge props were received at the park. Meguiar's paint cleaner, polish, and Gold Class wax helped a bit...well more than my feeble Kodak DX3600 camera.

Car looks good. Did you have the kit painted on the car? Keep up the good work wheels and the kit look great together.

The kit was primed off the car since I saw it when I dropped off the car for install. For install, I don't remember how they did it. When I open my driver door, I do see where the red paint ends on the Kam sides and moves to the black urethane (thin line next to door sill). This would imply to me either the kit was painted on the car and masked to not paint the sill OR painted off the car, masked to a measured point on the sides, and then installed. If I imagine either could be done, but someone here undoubtedly would know the best way to get the job done.

baNanA_ryCe...
wat kind of drop do you have?

Response...The shots in the grass (in link) make it "look" slammed, but its just TRD springs... my guess is around 1.5 in drop.

nice...i like that drop..it doens't look "too" low. i'm geting eibach pro-kit (same thing) so i think it'll look gud. nice rims...really..i'm considering getting them now. i wanted motegi mr7's, but now these have over taken the popular motegi look. 18" or 17" rims?

What do you use to clean your interior? The steering wheel looks really shinny!

hellr,

It must be the photo because I haven't cleaned it in two weeks. I've been using an unlabeled bottle for a long while now...it may be simple Armor All that I bought in a huge container and broke down into a few small containers more than a year ago....but thanks for the compliment.

Strange but true. It must be the fact that we're both always working. The last time I saw you was the Injen install and to buy your Injen dress-up from your former vehicle. Maybe I'll catch you early at Seaside.

Will
How much work did they have to do to your kit? I just had my whole car repainted and the kit painted off of the car. The shop I took it to had to work on it for 2 hours or so to fix the kit. It had some pin wholes in it from the mold that it was made. I know the shop since it is my best friends dad who did all the work. I had a little bit of space in mine also until I trimmed the kit down to fit around the corners so it would sit snug against the car. I am going to get my film developed here shortly of my car so that everyone can see. Keep up the work Willy.. Any word on your car lately Larry?

WillyWonka
06-19-2002, 06:39 AM
EVILLL1,

The kit has a few areas where grilles (that I bought) can be installed so the shop shapes them and affixes them in the slots. The kit itself did not have to be modified/cut for install. Kaminari usually is a perfect match. Thanks for the compliment.
