Go to this site and read what this guy has to say. Especially interesting is his explanation of the purple effect of Audi/BMW lighting and high color temperature systems. But by far the best is that the standard 4100K Phillips system puts out the greatest light output.

i kept telling people that the 4100(thought it was 4300) kit is what the S2000/bmw/audi uses.
they dont use the 6000+ bulbs because it produces less output but more color(kinda like really bright aftermarket colored bulbs).
so im still running the group buy for the 4300k phillips kit for $399 bucks if anyones interested...which is a extremely good price($520 is the list)

Anyone know if HID kits work fine with DRLs? Cause my Corolla uses the low beams as its DRLs and I'm not sure if they will malfunction or anything... Anyone have any ideas?

i got this phillips kit (at least i think) and, well, it has to be one of the best mods i've done next to hotchkis sways.. .the output is great, and visibility rocks, even w/my lights aimed low.

Stories... no clue about your question... I've never tried giving the igniters less power.

Hey Russ, your car looks bad ass! Damn... I'm green with envy, hehe :) Anyways, props on your ride :) Anyone have any ideas if DRLs screw with HIDs?

Yep I read that a little while ago while surfin' around. I'll vouch for the truth in that. My 7000k HIDs aren't nearly as good as the stock HIDs on our Lexus GS400. They work ok, but it's mostly for looks. I'd rather have the Phillips bulbs.

Luckily, we have zero fog in Hawaii and well-lit roads, so I can afford to just LOOK kewl. ;)

Yeah, I got the Vision/K2 crystal white (6000K) HIDs and they aren't bmw, audi, lexus lookin like I thought they might be. :( Too purple. I guess eventually I'll get the philips 4100K, cause my lights don't match anymore (again).

Are HID's really worth it? And can you get replacement bulbs for the Philips 4100k?

Nope. Eli is doing a GP on the 4300K, while the 4100K is what auto manufacters use.

i dont think there's much difference in that.
same thing like when company's list their 6000k kit when they are actually more like 5600-5800k.

On the DRL question....I'd say no. With the way HIDs have to light off, I don't think you can run them at lower than 100% current. They would just turn off.

Yes they are worth it. Colored bulbs are a waste of money. they look like crap when you compare them to HID's.

i have 2 questions

1) how is the fitment of the phillips kit.. do you have to do altering.. or is it plug and play like the hellas?

2) i heard some issues about how hids might not be good for our electrical system because they draw a lot of power etc...

any thoughts on this?

i just want to make sure everything is all good before i go about possibly hurting my car

thanks

So do you think that they'd just shut themselves off then? Would that mess anything up you think... dangit this is a tough topic, lol.

I'd have to agree with CloNeGTS and say it wouldn't work if your DRLs are using your low beams. I don't think the HIDs can operate at two different outputs.

1. i don't know about the philips kit, clone did a write up on this and that's how i put mine in, but i didn't need to cut anything put my vision's in. all i did was use a thin metal wire (gauge wire i think it's called) to secure the bulb in and it hasn't moved since. real easy.

2. As far as I know HID draw less power than factory bulbs and last a hell of a lot longer.

Philips will light up more of the road, the 6000k are for the purple-ish color. they both look nice. just pick which color you like best.
