Asking for opinions on the best axle-back exhausts for 01 Celica GT-S. I've been looking at HKS HiPower, Greddy TiC / EVO2, Apexi N1, Invidia N1? Let me know what you guys think is the best for HP gains / Sound. Thanks :eatpop:

holy cow, exhaust thread day i guess.....

to each his one, but honestly, through all the makor brands, you only going to get about 10-15 extra horse (NA motor of course) so why pay 400-700 dollars...my opinion, feel free to knock it

this is what i got

http://www.performance-trends.com/catback_exhaust.htm

got it off ebay for 110 dollars, mounted right up, perfect tone, no issues but again...beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

Depends what you want. I went with quiet. GReddy SP2. Gained 7hp in the top end on my 2000 GT (stock engine with cai).

Good sound, nice low growl, but doesn't start to "bark" until you get over 3500 rpm.

AGREED, or run axleless. take off your stock axleback and turn your car on. it'll sound SEXY ASS HELL. I just recently got the Greddy Ti-C axleback. I removed my stock axleback and turned my car on to see how it sounds. OMG sounds sexy ass hell. Greddy Ti-C axleback is nice. sounds nice also.

No TRD discontinued making that a while ago. Very rare and hard to find.

I just picked one up for my GTS and I love it so much. Loud as hell is right lol.

Not to mention it will yield the most gains.

I'm running a custom set-up that goes between the control arms with a straight thru round magnaflow muffler. I'm not going to spend the money to get name-brand axle backs. Less bends than any set-up (except maybe kazuma) with less pipe for cheaper. It's a little loud but that is fine for me. I even put a cut-out before the muffler in case I want louder.

Mufflers don't make hp. None of them do, at best they don't take much hp from you. If you are worried about hp go without your axleback, otherwise it is all about sound really (while of course avoiding really restrictive designs).

I would bet that my exhuast makes more power than a trd, with the cutout open or closed. But the trd is alot more civil sounding I am sure.

Manaflow is another option, I like the sound of the magnaflow axleback and I don't know if the butt dyno could ever tell the difference between it and any other performance exhaust.

I have a GReddy EVO 2 on mine and I felt a little bit of difference but there was actually a mag out there I think that did a review on exhausts for the Celica and Marc is right.......the TRD axle back makes the most HP/Torque gains.I just didn't care for it personally.I'm not knocking you though.......if you can build an exahaust system for our rides that makes more HP/Torque than any one system on the market now then go for it.That's my 2 cents anyways....

kazuma makes the most, and no ones ever tested the rsr and fujitsubo against any other exhaust, imo they have the least bends than the other axle backs so i would assume that they would perform best

what u guys think abt zigen fireball???

Mike

i have the the pro racer gn+ (same exhaust just different canister at the end) and i like it, quiet but sounds clean, power wise its hard to tell if the axle back itself did anything because i had a test pipe and 2.5" mid pipe done when i got it, so all those could add to the difference i felt

i thought mine was loud..but its cool now to hear mine is not as loud as u guys have it on ur celicas..still mine attracts cops and trips alarms of cars on streets.

I dont have any intake done on mine...just took butterfly valve out and but a k and n drop filter thinking of some SRI to get some torque and power in pick up from start, but iam confused because of the choices..Mine is a gt 2000

Turbo magazine did a shootout with something like 10 different exhausts for the GT-S a few years back. The TRD made the most peak horsepower, most peak torque, and the most torque in the mid range as well.

It made power (or rather, freed power up).

It made power (or rather, freed power up).

yeah i think that is the point he was going for. And like some of the time, mark is right the TRD had the highest gains over stock for the ones tested in the shootout not to mention decently quiet

That was a good way of putting my point. No muffler makes hp, only takes less away than others.
