View Full Version : Yay? or Nay? VIS CF HOOD

ok I did a search for the VIS OEM CF Hood and I seem to have gathered a bunch of mixed reviews. So are they good or not?

Also, I read from those threads that the VIS hood is not fully carbon fiber, and the inside structure is actually fiberglass? Is this the same will all CF Hoods? Are Fiberimages Hoods made the same way?

Yay, i have one. Excellant quality, and it fits better than my stock hood.
Its got fiberglass in it, just like almost every other hood...makes it have a more rigid stucture...I'm not sure about fiber images, but i think that they are the same way... Don't worry, the hood won't break unless you get in a front end collision. my buddy just totaled his Celi, and he had the VIS hood....the front end was completely FUKED (more or less gone), yet the hood only had like 3 cracks in it...damn impressive considering he hit the A pillar of a montero sport at about 55

They probably just do the top in carbon fiber for cosmetic reasons and do the bottom with fiberglass because it is about as strong and weighs a lot less than the stock hood.

yeah ideally yes thats what I planned on getting.. but unfortunately, its hard to get it here in canada and the person who can get it for me said its gonna be a long wait as compared to the VIS... also I heard the edges on the VIS are wrapped around with CF and it UV protectant coated, where as the FI is not... is that even true?? I might check the price difference and determine by that

MAybe the hood isn't as rigid as factory so that it cradles in position as opposed to the stock one?
