Yeah... so I've got a GT-S without ABS... :( why I don't know.
In any case, could you all please help me and detail what it would take to convert to an ABS system ? Thanks everyone I really appreciate it.

Umm you don't want to try and convert bud. You would probably have to get new hubs, wheel speed sensors, ABS actuator and ECU, brake master cylinder, brake lines & plumbing - and thats a best case estimate. It might be much more complicated if the ABS cars have a different wiring harness and you have to re-wire as well. And then you have your deceleration and Yaw sensors etc. It will by no means be easy or cheap.

Well that article kinda put it over the top for me. I have known for some time after reading other articles in magazines like SCC that ABS is superior......
I got a great deal on my car.... :( oh well.

Maybe if you improve the nut behind the wheel your braking distances will be just as good as celicas' with ABS. I personally don't like it (if ya hadn't noticed). unessary weight. :ugh:

gts24, I got my Celica without ABS too ;)
My first Celica did have ABS and it was awsome, but it was really scarey when it kicked on in the snow/ice during the winter. A lot of people seem to preferre ABS for stopping on slick surfaces for some reason, but I hated it. You would basically lose all controle over stopping and turning, the only thing you could do is mash down on the pedal as hard as you can and hope you don't hit something. Without ABS, if I start to slide on some ice I just ease up on the brakes untile the car stops sliding. That way, not only do I stop in half the distance, I can steer if I need to in order to avoid hitting something. It's pretty good during the summer though, I do miss if for that. Still, if you aren't the sort of person who instinctually slames on the brakes during a panic moment, you will be perfectly fine. I'm not that way because all my other cars didn't have ABS.

I agree.... I had my previoius car with ABS, and of course I see the worst winter here in MN.... well I didn't like it that much. I guess I"m just used to not having ABS, and I'm kinda partial to not having it.
