Has anyone hear ever had to have their windsheild replaced? I was doing something custom with my car and I think that I accidently broke my windsheild to the point of it needing to be replaced :(

Just wondering if anyone else has replaced a windsheild for some reason so I could get an idea as to how much my mistake is going to cost me. I just want to know what to expect to pay when I start calling around to get some one out here to replace it. Thanks.

I had mine replaced after a rock smashed it. $200 and it was replaced on-site within an hour.

Thanks for your replies :)

I called around. It looks like it will cost around $450 to $500 to replace if I want to replace it Toyota glass(which I do). I was quoted around $300 for aftermarket glass. List price for the genuine Toyota glass(the stuff that they charge $500 to install) was a whopping $1100! If the cost to replace was about the same as my deductable, I was just going to pay for it myself, but needless to say, I will be going through my insurance to pay for the glass. My comprehensive deductable should only be $100. The good news is that several glass companies will actually credit you up to $100 tward your deductable if you are replaceing the windsheild as an insurance claim, which would make it free for me. How much do you want to bet that they do that so they can charge your insurance company the $1100 list price for the glass instead of the $500 they normally charge if you aren't going through insurance?

Thanks again for the replies.

Dude, get $0 deductible comprehensive insurance. It costs almost nothing extra past $250 deductible. I was driving down the highway and something hit the car in front of me, breaking his passenger window. Shattered glass came flying back and broke my windshield and chipped up my hood and front end real bad. Zero dollars later, its all fixed.
