View Full Version : Another gas question....
Ok so I purchased a 2000 Celica GT not to long ago, and have been using premium gas as the inside of the gas lid said to use only premium....
But I have herd numerous times on this form that people purchased the GT for themselves or there kids soly to avoid paying for the premium gas opose to getting the GT-S...
SO just to confirm, I do not need to use premium gas in my GT correct???

The GT uses regular fuel. The GT-S requires 91 or higher octane.
Ok, just wanted to confirm before I started using lower grade gas...
The previous owner must have CF'ed his originally gas lid and replaec it with a GT-S from a junk yard or something, hence why I had the sticker...
Or at-least thats the only reason I could think of for her to put that on there.

If you're certain you have a GT, then yes... 87 octane fuel will do you just fine.
GT's use 87 octane where as GT-S's need 91 or higher. That's pretty strange that you had a sticker that said that though.

I'm sure its a GT, with the 1zz engine. It had engine trouble's and I swap it with a 1zz out of an 2002 celica GT....

The back of the owner's manual says the 1zz-fe engine uses unleaded 87 gasoline or higher.
You can use regular gas. My GT did for about 4 years.

I use regular 87 in the 1ZZ MR2 all the time.

Previous owner probably had an aftermarket gas door on there, picked up a new one from a GT-S and had it rivited on...
