Has anyone had any dealings with BD4's in australia? I've been sussing out their 'mufflers' they have for sale, and have been informed that their 'mufflers' are actually 2 part cat back systems.

Details as follows:

Subject: Re: HKS Muffler Series

The -ST021 is for ZZT230 Model with a 1ZZ-FE and the -ST016 is for the
ZZT231 Model with the 2ZZ-GE engine. The goodsmaster shows a 94mm tip, 60mm
pipe size and contains 2 pieces which makes me think it is a cat back
system. One thing to remember with exhausts on N/A engines, bigger isn't
always better, if you go too big, you can lose low and midrange power which
can reduce drivability.

Hope this answers your questions,

Jason d:)

ST021 and ST016 refer to parts listed on this URL (http://www.bd4s.com.au/index.php?sect=goodsmaster/goodsmaster&selected=hks_muffler_series&make=Toyota&model=&page=1).

Anyone purchased one of these 'systems'? Are these just the same HKS systems sold in the US?

i was about to get the catback system on my celica...but it was $1200 and i couldnt of been ****ed..lol..
ive had friends deal with bd4's and they are very professional..
hks exhaust is very quiet and i really didnt like the sound..
but since the new exhaust laws are coming out..the hks exhaust would be a good choice, cuz of the low noise it produces..
i reckon if your willing to spend the $$$ then go for it..

new laws? news to my ears, is this a state by state thing or australia wide?

i know if this gets introduced up here, there are going to be alot of unhappy hyundai excel owners

$1200 didn't seem to bad, as most quotes ive had are around the $900-$1000 mark for custom cat back stainless anyway, this only includes the 1x180 degree mandrel bend as well.. the rest are crush bends. i figure may as well go for something thats been tried and tested.

2 points? thats a bit steep.. cops are really trying there best to crack down on the modded car scene as of late. i just dont think they realise that they are fighting an endless war. they can bomb us into the ground with rules and fines, but as soon as we go.. the next generation of car modders are going to pop up, and their back to square one :P

is there anyone in aus who imports TRD parts that are *reasonably* priced, or am i going to have to go hunting overseas?

I've seen a few Toyota dealers from WA and NSW advertise in Hot4s and Fast fours being able to supply TRD parts. Official TRD supplier in Australasia is Sollit Trading Company located in NZ ( trdsales.com ). The US spec TRD exhaust is rated at 95db. I've got one and been very happy with it since. Not a cat-back design, but axle back exhaust/muffler system. Ie from the flange near the back wheel.
