Chevrolet Beat (http://www.egmcartech.com/2008/07/03/chevrolet-beat-for-the-us-is-almost-official/)
GM said today that it is finally considering bringing the Chevrolet Beat to the U.S. as it shifts its focus from trucks to fuel-efficient compact cars. GM’s spokesman Dee Allen said that bringing the Chevrolet Beat to the U.S. will give GM a chance to compete with the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris segment.
“It is certainly one of the things that is being looked at from a portfolio perspective,” Allen said.
Currently the Chevrolet beat is set to arrive in global markets starting next year. It will be built in South Korea. Allen said that the car still has to be re-engineered to meet U.S. safety and emissions standards.
The front-wheel-drive three-door hatch is powered by a 1.2L turbocharged gasoline engine. Lutz has previously said that if the Chevrolet Beat came to the U.S. it will start around $10,000.
Seeing as we’ve been seeing the Chevrolet Beat on the set of the new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen set, we figure GM is just testing the waters to promote the Beat. Let’s just hope they don’t wait as long as they waited with the Camaro to deliver.

Hopefully, it's better than the current Aveo.

If it's derived from the ecotec, and if it's light enough, it could just be a fun car to drive after boosting the car with power adders from the factory specs.

Chevrolet Spark United States in 2011
An all-new Chevrolet Spark mini-car and Orlando seven-seat compact multi-purpose vehicle will come to the United States in 2011. The announcement was made during a General Motors press conference at the North American International Auto Show here today.
"Chevrolet Spark will bring great style, roominess and versatility to the segment of extremely fuel-efficient small cars in the U.S.," said Troy Clarke, president of GM North America. "The decision to add the Spark to Chevrolet's portfolio reflects the brand's commitment to being a fuel efficiency leader in the industry."
Originally seen as the Chevrolet Beat concept at the 2007 New York Auto Show, the four-door Chevrolet Spark will provide versatility with a fresh, youthful exterior and interior design that is reflected in the selection of materials and colors.
The Spark will make its world debut in full production form at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2009. Sales begin in Europe in the first quarter of 2010, followed by other markets around the globe.
"The Chevrolet Orlando show car, unveiled at the recent Paris Auto Show to positive public reaction, combines the versatility of a sport-utility, a family van and a wagon in a single vehicle," Clarke said. It has the added benefit of excellent fuel economy, because of its car-based architecture."

exterior looks nice but not the interior
the current chevy direct injection turbo is pretty much maxed out on the stock turbo - I see no reason why this one won't be as well - meaning that power adders won't have much of a benefit besides getting a new turbo (which trades for lag and reduces driveability).

Looks good. If they can keep teh weight down around the 2000-2200 mark it should be great competition for the Fit / Yaris / etc.

Update!
2010 Chevy Spark
The all-new Chevrolet Spark, making its world premiere at the Geneva auto show in March, is a small car designed to make a big statement. It's big on style, big on fuel economy and, like all products carrying the Chevrolet gold bowtie, big on refinement and value.
Its design breaks the mold for mini-cars and takes Chevrolet's signature styling elements to this vehicle segment in a youthful, fun and fashion-conscious way.
Spark was inspired by the Chevrolet Beat concept, the most popular of a trio of mini-car concepts that has toured international auto shows since 2007. A clear majority among 1.9 million internet voters said it was the car they wanted produced.
Exterior
The crisp lines of the five-door hatchback provide a wedge-like profile. Below Chevrolet's hallmark two-tier grille and headlamps that resemble diamond cut lines, the shape of the fog lamp housings and the "floating" lower air intake extend the sense of forward movement. Strong wheel arches accommodate up to 15-inch wheels to give the car a dynamic, ready-to-go stance.
The rear door handles are integrated into the upper part of the door to preserve the clean lines of rear quarter panel and wheel arches. In the rear, an integrated tailgate spoiler and Chevrolet's round tail lights add to Spark's appeal.
With an overall length of 3,640 mm and a generous 2,375 mm wheelbase, Spark offers a spacious cabin with outstanding leg and hip room in the front and rear.
Interior
The design of Spark's spacious cabin clearly matches its fun and fashion exterior look and functionality. A unique feature is the motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster. Mounted on the steering column, it provides easy- to- read information to the driver utilizing a combination of analog and digital displays.
With fresh colors and fabrics, exterior color schemes continue inside to Chevrolet's signature 'dual cockpit' layout and the door panels. Textured inserts flow from the instrument panel to each side of the cabin into the doors, adding another eye-catching element to the interior.
Spark also boasts a high level of interior acoustic refinements typical of larger vehicles.
Engines and safety
Sales will start in Europe featuring 1.0 and 1.2-liter 16-valve four-cylinder double overhead camshaft gasoline engines, delivering excellent fuel efficiency and low emissions.
Depending on global markets, safety equipment includes driver and passenger front air bags, front side airbags, roof rail head curtain airbags, antilock brakes and electronic stability control. Other safety features include pre-tensioners for front seat belts and three-point belts in the rear. Spark has been developed and is expected to achieve high crash test ratings.
Europe leads start of sales
Spark will be available in European dealerships early 2010, followed by other global regions. Spark is the newest in a series of all-new, globally developed Chevrolet vehicles that are defined by expressive design, refinement and value.

SOURCE (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/08/new-delhi-2010-chevrolet-e-spark-and-electric-car-for-the-aver/)
The car in question is the Chevrolet e-Spark, and it would be India's first four-door electric vehicle. The outside is simply the standard Indian-spec Spark, but Reva's EV power-train sits under-hood.
There might also be an option to get the car with either lead acid or lithium-ion batteries. Production should start sometime this year.

On Sale: 2011 Chevrolet Spark (http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/spark/on-sale-2011-chevrolet-spark.html)
The all-new 2011 Chevrolet Spark has begun reaching European dealers. It's priced from around $10,900, including local taxes. This figure includes standard air-conditioning and power accessories.
When the Chevy Spark arrives in North America, most likely as a 2012 model, it will be the smallest Chevrolet in the brand's U.S. portfolio. The five-passenger Spark measures only 143 inches long, nearly a foot shorter than the Chevrolet Aveo hatchback.
In Europe, the Chevrolet Spark is available with two gasoline engines: a 67-horsepower 1.0-liter unit and an 80-hp 1.2-liter unit. Both engines are rated at 46 mpg on the combined European driving cycle and emit 119 g/km of CO2. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard.

dear consumers, we cannot make a 1/2 way decent small car offering so we're going to rebrand a really cheap car made by a company in which we have a large holding. also, we can't see opel in europe so we'll be selling it here as high end german bred buick and cadilliac.

Chevrolet has not yet issued a release on the performance upgrades, but judging from the aftermarket partners featured on the labels just above the rocker panels, the Z-Spec model should feature Brembo-sourced brakes, a Borla sport exhaust system, a K&N filter and a sport suspension from Pedders.
