i've got a gt and i was going to try to put the gts intake manifold on it, has anyone tried it? and will it even bolt up? if so, would i gain much power?

I don't think it will fit. If you're looking for a metal appearance maybe you should consider a Corolla intake manifold.

Go to the nearest Toyota dealership, order an intake manifold gasket for each car (probably only $5 each).
Lay them on top of each other. Do the holes line up?
If they do, then they likely have the same part number (so you would not have even needed to buy them).
Now you have the answer, without dealing with the hassle of the switch.

autxr, the gt has a plastic manifold, and the gts has a metal one, so they are definitely different parts.
Hey Joe, do you have a carolla manifold on yours? if so did you gain much power? cuz you got a nice time for a gt!

Nope. I heard rumors of a few people doing it though. Don't sweat it so much imo. Be proud of that plastic intake manifold.. lol

I've got some time to burn tomorrow. I might just do that.

I talked to the Parts Guy, and the part #'s for each gasket is different, as well as the size. So that's that...the intake manifolds are not interchangeable.

the corolla '98-'99 has the same engine with aluminum intake... you might try that... it should work... just go ahead and polish it while you have it off for more power...

Yeah, Corollas have the same engine, but they do make less power. I've "heard" that it's b/c of the intake/exhaust/ecu. Is that true, Corolla Jon?

The corolla just has bad balance in the intake/exhaust/ecu.
Right now I have suggested to David Draper that we test a Billet Intake Manifold. Just an idea right now but hell, this whole car started as an idea.
Food for thought,
Matt

the cams, ecu, headers, and intake manifold are different... thats where the extra 20hp and torque comes from.... it does suck... ive been going back and forth between changing over the cams headers and such and getting the gts engine... might go for the new engine... a friend of mine is opening an aftermarket place and wants to promote corollas more around here (dont care for hondas too much)... well that engine would be about the same as the integra gs engine everyones swapping.. so if you show that corollas could match it there might be a little more of a market... well see though... those engine are making me mad though... so many differences in the same engine... i dont get it... when two engines both have the 1zzfe.... why are there so many differences... i dont even know if the cams will swap... and if the intake gaskets have different parts numbers then that may mean all of the holes arent the same either.... wierd stuff
