XW-Y is a specification of the operating temperature for the oil....X being the viscosity(flow of fluid) when at low temperatures and Y being the viscosity at high temperatures....
It all depends on the temperature where u live....it's better to have a a larger operating range in cold temperatures coz the oil needs to flow into the engine quite well. but if u live in a hot area consider a more thicker oil.....i use Shell Helix Plus 10W-40....it's expensive...ferrari use it.....but good efficient running....
hope this helps

For Celica, 5w-30 is the recommended type and you should use 5w-30....if it is real cold then it won't hurt too much to use 10w-30... but try to stick with 5w-30.. 5w is thinner than 10w and the engine of our car is alminium block, thus thinner the better.
