2003 Antenna prob

hey there everyone.. i need alittle help. just got a 2003 celica and wanted to get rid of the lightning rod it came with and replace it with a s2k antenna. just the problem is that it is a powered antena and i cant just screw it of like my neighbors cleica (which is a 2000). i dont know if i need to replace the antenna motor with the 2002 down or what. any advice would be helpful.

did all celicas 03+ have a power antenna?

why would you want to remove a power antenna? it disappears if you turn the radio off doesnt it? lol i guess i just dont get it. anyways, will the power antenna work on a 2000 gts? or would i have to add a fuse. i dont want to replace the big antenna with the s2000 due to lesser reception.

reason i want it off is because the motor is dead or something messed up. it will come out, but when u turn it off, it starts making wierd twisting sound like it cant go down until you push it down. so i thought about fixing it, but might as well make it look better. and just becasue a s2k antena is shorter than the stock gts, it doesnt mean better or worst reception, just depend on if you are close or far from the station. the real honda s2k have no prob of picking up signals last i recall.

Yeah, youve got to find a non power base.(some +03s have them too) then its remove half the trunk plastics to get to the one bolt on the inside. the chrome ring with 4notches in it take a flat head screwdriver and unscrew it, itll slide out, static base just held in by the chrome ring/nut thing... hope that helps
