I just got an Alpine CVA-1003 head unit and I need to know how to run the foot break lead and parking break lead. I want it wired so that you can always have the monitor on. I can't seem to get the link to work so hopefully some nice person will go to www.alpine1.com and view the radio which has the manual link at it. Thanks

I have a pic of the wiring if you want me to email it to you or if someone can post it for me.

Okay I can help you out cuz I had the same problem. The directions is for the 1005 but it is the same wiring. Remember Alpine is funny and you have to do all kinds of **** to get it to turn on. In other word you have to turn the switch on and off 3 times. Here it is. You need to go out and get 2 toggle switches. Be careful bro.

All you need are the wires labeled "parking brake" and "foot brake" attached to the CVA-1005.

On the instructions, it will tell you to hook up the two wires coming from the CVA-1005; one to the parking brake wire and one to the foot brake wire.

So the instructions want you to do this:

CVA-1005 (parking brake input wire) >>> Vehicle's Parking Brake Wire
CVA-1005 (foot brake input wire) >>> Vehicle's Foot Brake Wire

Instead, do this:

CVA-1005 (parking brake input wire) >>> Switch A >>> - Ground
CVA-1005 (foot brake input wire) >>> Switch B >>> + Power

So, where the instructions say to raise the parking brake, flip the switch A to "on".

And, where the instructions say to push the brake pedal, flip the switch B to "on".

I will not be help responsible for any damages this may cause. You will do as you please. That is my waiver.

Again Be careful man. If you need any more help PM me.

Thanks so much for the help. Can you not just wire them to ground and power so that is works all the time????

No you have to have a ground and power in order for the monitor to work. The monitor wont even turn on till you ground and power the the switches.

I have loved Alpine since I was 12 years old and my mom came home with a new system in her car. But they are really testing my patients this week. What if I was installing this on a boat?

I know what you mean man. It took me three days to install my setup. Mainly cuz no one knew how to bypass the darn thing. I had everything done except for the bypass. It would have only taken a couple hours but of course I tried everything to make it bypass and nothing worked ecxcept for what I just told you. Installing it in a boat should be the same way. I dont see any difference in it. No matter what you will need switches.

There is actually a switching device out there that will perform all of the necessary switching stuff for you. I don't remember what the name is, but I have it in my car and it works great.

I just turn the ignition on, and this little beauty does everything behind the scenes. My video is always on.

I would greatly appreciate anything you can do to find out what that is. I would love to have that.

Ok, I found out that the little switcher thingy is made by a company called PAC and the model number is TR-7.
