Late at night last week I was coming back from Pasadena on the 210 freeway. And that freeway has some nice straights and little traffic (all you so.cal/LA people know what I'm talking about). Well I get to this straight away and go WOT. My speed climbed and climbed, shifted to 6th, and climbed til I got to 152MPH!!! Then I had to slow down for a curve. But then I was thinking WTF, and at the same time Hellz ya! :D
Now, I read on this board GT-S's are electronically governed at 140MPH. So do I have a factory freak or is this governor not actually there?
BTW, the car is real stable at these speeds. I've reached 140MPH on a few occasions (on a different freeway) , and 147MPH on the 210 with four people (including myself) in the car. I wanna find some stretch of road I can see how fast she'll go, 'cause it was still pullin', although very slowly. Is there anyone on here that knows about the supposed speed governor?

There is no governor, its limited by the gearing in 5th to about 140mph and 6th doesn't pull at all. Either you were going downhill in 6th to get that speed or your speedo is way off I'd imagine.

Someone said there may be a governor on GT's with steel wheels because the tires they use aren't capable of higher speeds.

There was never any factual talk about a governer on GT-Ss on this board.

umm..my GTS still pulls in sixth..the Kazuma really helped in that area..I can shift from fifth at redline into sixth and be in lift..and it still climbs..albeit slowly. I've never had the opportunity to max out sixth due to not having much open road free of idiots in SUV's or State Troopers.
what rpm's were you turning in sixth?

Chico: Trust me, it's possible. :D
pj808: Yeah, I think the Kazuma really helps, before I put it back on, when I had just the aem, I couldn't go above 140mph. I believe my rpm was about 6,600 and still pulling, slowly.
Chris25NJ: Yeah, I know I know, not very smart. :)

02 gts HERE (7800 rev limiter)
i took it to the rev. limiter in 5th
and the speedo read just short of 140.
so ill saY 138-139ish.
shifted to 6th and the RPMS fell too much and it didnt pull real well at all.
maybe if i had several miles she would in 6th
:p
but i also heard the speedo is way off at these speeds
