got the racing spoiler on...(pics)

had alot of problems putting this spoiler on...the normal placement of the legs that were on the spoiler ran into the base of the rear wiper...so we basically had to move the legs apart...apart enough to fit OVER the stock holes (not in the stock holes b\c they didn't like up) lettme know what u guys think.

People like this wing, but flame me when I ask about this (http://www.importfan.com/product.asp?3=1583) wing?? That is crazy. I don't see what is so rice about my CF wing I am getting soon. Crazy if you ask me. I like that wing, but not as much as the CF Mega GT wing.

I honestly dont like it. its too high off of the back of the car and doesnt really "fit" the car. the rest of your car is really nice but i'm not a fan of the spoiler.

It's a common misconception that a wing should only be used on RWD cars because it's able to put downforce unto the drive wheels. This is purely from a drag racing point of view. On a circuit track or on long sweeping high speed corners, a wing like this is beneficial on almost any vehicle, be it FWD or RWD, as it helps to keep the rear of the car planted and in contact with the road. Being that most front-engine vehicles, including the Celica, have a weight distribution of 60/40 a properly designed wing actually helps to keep the handling of the car more neutral at speed.

On the 1/4 mile strip, I make sure to unbolt mine as I'm sure it's more of a hinderance than anything else for this type of racing. I really want as little drag on my car as possible. However, we all know the Celica isn't a great drag car, and it was never designed to be. Handling is the Celica's forte. A proper wing, and one with taste can both look good, and serve a functional purpose on this car.

For the most part, ppl just bolt these things on cars for looks. Most of them on the market have no actual R/D into them and are merely just imitations of the real thing or made to fit the stylish look, but are aerodynamically unsound.

In this case, if you like the looks, it's up to you. Everyone has different tastes, but there's really no wrong wing to put on the car, unless you put it on backwards.

actually...the spoiler is just about the same height as the action package spoiler...believe it or not. (this one may be an .5" higher). ---i've compared..trust me. that was my only concern: the height. this spoiler gives the ILLUSION that it is hight because of the skinny leg brackets...thats all. as for the holes. yes..lots of f'in holes lol. a total of 4 new holes on each side. however, the auto body shop made this thing sturdy as hell...the entire cars shakes when i shake the spoiler. as for it's functional use; right now it has none cause all i got is an intake and exhaust. lol however, it will be more usefull for me when i put the lowering springs on the car and more mods to the engine. just planning in advance. THANX GUYS FOR THE OPINIONS AND COMMENTS. don't care if i get flammed a little...but, i personally like the way it came out. oh yeah..one more thing... i can see clearly out the rear view mirror (go figure). and the 3rd brake light is still visible.

:werd: I have a 100% Carbon Fiber Race wing on mine and people called it a park bench blah blah blah. well i got so many compliments on it because of the material and they said it went good with the car. I think a lot of people here are affraid of the rice thing... its inevitable though and we cant stop it.

I like that CF GT wing alot Yota! I'm just not sure if the beefy stands will look right on the small rear deck of the Celica. Did you test fit it yet? I'm anxious to see pics. ;)

I haven't. I am waiting until next month when I go down to LA for HIN. I may need to shave my rear wiper due to the location of the stands. Not sure yet.

yeah man, that's what I was thinking too about the wiper. The stands on my wing have selectable mounting points and I had to set mine slightly wide because of the wiper. That, and they just barely fit on the rear deck. I hope you don't run into problems. :(

the wing was only 200 bucs...i didn't like any of the fiberglass wings...actually..i liked the action package spoiler, but it was obviously seen and used alot...didn't like any other one...so i decided to look at racing wings... and when i found this one- i liked it alot. 200 bucs for it and didn't need to be painted. as far as the 17" ADR rims... 220 a rim...i got hooked up with the tires b\c my best friends dad owns a place called "tire warehouse." so there ya go... keep coming with the comments...i know alot of you don't like it...but like mentioned before..it original..ya know. which was what i was going for when i bought the damn car in year 2000. also...im not ganna spend 6000 bucs on a turbo to add 50 horse power...so style is what im going for...even if it slows me down.

That wing is too high, from a front on veiw of the car you can see its almost higher than the roofline. , I think it ruins the proportions of the car with that wing you got, mine is only half that height. Otherwise the rest of the car is great.

I think it looks good. Not that it should matter. If you think the wing looks good, and you obviously do, that is all that should matter. Don't pay any attention to some people on these boards who call the wing rice when they themselves have things on their car that may be considered rice by others. Good work. :thumbup:

thanx for sticking up for me guys...but i was just curious on what everyone thinks on the forum b\c there is alot of knowledge here and i also would like to know what everone here thinks. rice is a very vague term so i don't pay attention to that either. like a few of you said...as long as i like the stuff i do....that's all that matters...that should go for alot of you other people here too...or else you'll never be able to make decisions on what to buy for you car. no matter what there will be criticism... When posters ask for comments, its not always going to what the owner wants to hear. That's just the way it is and the way it will continue. (I can hear Bruce Springsteen "Born in the USA" playing in the background, thus the freedom of speech banter) The angle that could but never will change is when the comments take on an offensive tone or abandon the purpose of the thread and focus on personal attacks. That doesn't have a place.

As for my opinion (its meaningless ;) ) on some cars I like the stock wing and even the no-wing idea. The action package wing took a bit to get accustomed to but it works on some cars and doesn't on others. I'm not into the large wing look, but to each their own. Its your car. Take what you want from the detractors' opinions, but they don't drive your car every day, you do, so install what makes you feel better about what you drive. Nice wheels. ;)
