Has anyone used Redline Water Weater(sp?)? It is some sort of additvie for your coolant system. It seems like a good idea and the Redline tranny fluid I bought is pretty good. Would the Water Weater be a good idea? Anyone have any experiance with this?

I have heard very good things about this product. The only people I've talked to that use it frequently are MR2 turbo owners. The stock turbo on that car is coolant cooled. In a Celica, I don't think you'd see much benefit from it. The engine isn't pushing the limits of the cooling system in stock or even slightly modified trim.

If I remember correctly it's made to help racers that don't or cannot use anti-freeze cool their motors. It's supposed to drop the water temp about 10 degrees and in most cases that's a good thing.
Note: Racecars like Formula Atlantic and Fords do not run anti-freeze and the water wetter helps the cooling process. They have no fan and don't need one. The breeze from a 100+ mile per hour stright works wonders over the radiators.
Bottom line. It may help(?) and can't hurt. Redline does not make "snake oil" if they say it works it does.

thanks for the replies. My friend with a MR2 Turbo was the one who suggested it, and I was there when he bought it and they said we could replace the entire coolant system with a bottle of water weater and distilled water and not include any anti-freeze.

I tried it in my 87 RX-7 turbo with 50/50 antifreeze and distilled water. I didn't notice any difference by the seat-of-the-pants dyno method. The temp needle was also in the same relative position after the car warmed up. I don't doubt the stuff works, I just didn't really notice anything by my not so scientific assessment.

Okay guys and gals, I raced my car this year with Royal Purple Purple Ice,(same type of deal as Water wetter) and didn't notice any temp change since draining my antifreeze out (mixed it with distilled water).
I didn't notice any needle change and I switched it over in early July.
They say if you have a larger motor that requires greater cooling demands it will work well. The Celica comes with a very efficient cooling system out of the box so it is hard to tell if it helps or not.:D
