The owner of the local Toyota dealership has quite a nice collection of special Toyotas. One of them is a 1977 Celica GT--gotta love that "fastback".

Story is that the original owner bought it from the dealer in '77 and kept it in mint shape. I think the only change was the wheels if I remember correctly. The dealership bought the car back from its original owner in 2001, having around 25K miles on it.

The inside is in perfect condition, but was locked this time (so no pictures).

For those of you in the Front Range of Colorado, Petersen Toyota in Fort Collins is the dealership that has this gem.

(Now next time he has the TT Supra in, I'll have to get pictures of that sweet thing!)

Anyway, enjoy a couple of (not-so-good-quality) shots of your Celica's Grandpappy :D

Kind of looks like an old school muscle car.

Yep--there's more than a little hint of Mustang in the fastback lines and rear tail lights.

It looks like a Mustang for a reason. Toyota *wanted* it to look like a mustang.

Beautiful car. I wish my '73 was that clean.

I think its the louvers on the rear window that make it look like an old muscle car. I had a 77 Nova with those things on it.

My understanding is that everything except the wheels are original. I wish I could have taken some pictures of the interior--classic 70's look.

Paint is original as well--the shinyness is an artifact of the flash. The paint looks perfect; clearly the car has been garaged most of its life.

Yeah, I always liked the old Celicas. There was one that looked like that that used to run around where I live, but I don't see it anymore. It probably died since it was in horrible condition :( .

Nice car.

Here's a picture of a 77 that I liked though it's not as shinny as the posted.

One day I'll get one and fix it all up. :wiggle:
