I wanted to purchase 18s on my Celi but decided with the 17s because I do not want to lose too much performance and do not want the hassel of 18" rims. This car is a daily driver and I want some rim protection and to still drive with some comfort (not bouncing all over the place like the civic i used to have). I am having a hard time figuring out what tire size to use with the rim and this car. The Celica's wheel well seems so big. I dont know if I should use 205/40, 205/45 (which is hard to find) or 215/45.. I am leaning toward the 215/45 tire size which is the stock size on the lexus IS 300. What do ya all think? If you have pics post em.

I have 205/40's, but when those wear out, i'm gonna get some 215/45's...mainly b/c even with my sportline drop, I still have fender gap.

Willy Wonka - How did you red out your lights? Bought or did you dip/paint it yourself?

215 is larger than 205, but it is the width of the tire.
The circumfrence size would be indicated by 40,45,50,60 ect. series. That signifies the thickness of the tire.

I poled 41 Celica owners all over the world about the tire size they use with their 17

I had 225/40/17 on there but they're bald now. I plan on getting 225/45/17 next time.

I use Falken Ziexs 215/40/zr17" they work &ride pretty well. Actually they gear the car a little lower helps pick up speed
quicker.

Talk to my man Blue Batmobile. Click on members and send him a pm. The redout is vinyl and covers only the orange lower section. The cost broke my bank for a few weeks however...$7.

fewer tire companies make 225/40's in tires we want...
go with the 215/40.. looks good and it doesn't hinder your performance too badly :gap:

I've got 215/40/17 and they seem to be fine --- I also looked on a calibration chart and this size tire was the closest to the stock diameter that I HAD --- (with exception to the 215 width) --- I had the cheezy 195 hubcaps on my car. Yours may be a different size --- there is a chart somewhere on this site to tell you the best size tires to get compared to the size you have now. Peace.
