i am going to be changing my oil soon and am going for redline 5w-30 and it recomends changing the oil every 10-18k i thought i would change it about every 10-12k but i also need to change the oil filter before then right? can i take the oil filter off and change it without draining the oil?

damn, that makes me just want to buy amsoil 7500 and change it every 3 or 4 k, if i have to drain it to change a filter i might as well change the oil. going with amsoil 7500 5w 30

Why not? Amsoil recommends changing the filter at 6 months or 12,500 miles (and topping off, of course) when using the extended drain interval oils. I can't see any reason why you can't change only the filter?

damn those are very extended numbers on the oil side of the engine...
my suggestion.... on an engine who's entire livelihood is dependant on oil get a regular synthetic and swap it every 3-4000
