Ok, I'm going to be getting my baby out of the shop soon and now I am faced with the question......

Should I sell the car and move onto a more reliable daily driver?

Should I keep it and take the chance?

Now I have invested over $25k in the car and am looking forward to getting 400+ rwhp (Estimated). It is supossed to be running in the 11's. I had made a run at CMI in Jan at 13.8 @107mph on a blown HeadGasket with bald rear tires, bad 2nd syncros and a driver that never raced the MR2 before. We also ran it with full interior and full tank of gas, (it seemed like a waste of time to remove all this for 3 runs  .

We had even DYNO'd the car at 11 psi and got 256 rwhp, (also with a blown HG). We were running lean and had a few other issues to work out. Now with this last rebuild, we have fixed all the problems and improved on a few other things.

I know the blown HG was not the cars fault, but the shop that did the first build. The car is going to be strong and durable up to 30 psi, but we will run it at 14 daily. With the Haltech, it should be a reliable car, but I'm scared. I dont want to drive it again and have it go down again. It's not the car, but my luck.

I guess you can say this car is looking for sponsorship from Sparco, HKS and Greddy, but I know that's hard. If we do get it, then we are keeping it for sure. But most likely not.

So my question is.....Should I sell it or take the chance? If I do sell it, what should I buy? My dream has always been to have a Supra TT......but I dont want a used car. I dont plan on selling for less then $25k, but if no one wants to pay that much, then I know I'll keep it. Oh, the DILEMA!!! If I sell it, I will miss the MR2 SW2003 meet.

Sorry for the long post. Ideas and sugestions are welcome. Thanks in advance

I would keep it. It sounds like you are really attached to it.

Yeah, I was even thinking of trading it for a stock supra TT and MKii MR2 Turbo (Stock). I dont think I can find that though....

Yeah, but I dont know if I can afford another rebuild. Emotionally or physically. I went from having a 2000 Celica GT-s to this car and have owned this for 11 months. 9 of those were down times with blown motors. :(

With all that money you invested in the car, you might as well keep it. If you get a Supra TT, you're going to be doing the same thing to it. Plus no one will pay $25K for a used MR2.

keep it... I wish you the best
Honestly, I have been considering finding a cheap mr2 turbo and doing an engine rebuild.... instead of going turbo on the celica, keeping it a daily driver.. I have too many random thoughts floating around in my mind.. lol

i say try to sell it and when no one buys it (no one will) for 25K then you can be satisfied that you "tried your best"

sorry but 25K is way too much, mods dont add value to the car.. i'd say maybe 5-8K if you find another enthusiast..

so i say just keep it and for godsake turn the boost down! then you wont have to deal with anymore blown motors

$5-8k?!? That''s the price of them stock!! I have someone that is interested in it and they are looking at getting it at the end of the summer if I want to sell it. It's the guy that's doing the work on the motor too. He has a $19Million dollar lawsuit against the state and will be buying it as a beater, with a Lambo or Skyline as a race car.

Must be nice to be rich :D
